Nicholas Smith Grade 11

Ms. Vanmeter says Nicholas was a thinker to come up with an interesting EE topic and has already done significant research.

Ms. L Williams says Nicholas takes risks in Spanish class and always is ready with his warmup response. He is making progress every class as he works towards learning more Spanish.

Nicholas' favorite class is weight training. Nicholas says "I am considering going to a close college like Towson university. I'm also considering going out of state however. I want to study in law since I'm a really good debater."

Jacob Mwangi

Ms. Tomasura says "Jacob was a great reflective communicator during our Socratic Seminar on The Kite Runner, showing immense preparation and insightful thinking that helped his classmates to come to a better understanding of the work in relation to multiple global issues and other works we have discussed thus far. He is a dynamic and hard-working student that builds up and challenges those around him!

Jacob says "APUSH is my favorite class because it challenges me and requires me to be a critical thinker. When I go to college I’m looking to study psychology, I’m looking to go to any university that takes the IB credits so I can be ahead."

Ms. Vanmeter

Ms. Tomasura says Ms. Vanmeter has made herself available to discuss continuity across the IB English curriculum from 9th-12th grade, and has helped to make sure that we are being rigorous in our 9th and 10th grade classes to similar extents. Additionally, she is willing to make herself available for IOs for Seniors and is looking to fit EE candidates with willing and knowledgeable teachers to help them be as successful as possible - been great to work with her in my first year in this role!

CAS- Grades 11 and 12 CAS- Grades 11 and 12

All students who are working towards the IB Diploma must complete CAS. They work on reflection in the areas of Creativity, Activity, and Service over 18 months and must also complete one project.

Juniors should begin working on their project and should be reflecting weekly on things that they are involved with.

One way to support your IB DP grade 11 and 12 student is to ask them what they did this week for CAS? Help them to reflect on what they are doing that is creative like cooking or art, active like sports or exercise, and service related like donating items.
