A Message from the Principal
We are off to a great start! Routines are becoming established, students are settling in, and it's been wonderful to see our school days fall into a comfortable rhythm.
As we continue working to keep our families informed and connected, be watching for our new Mini Musketeer Monday Minute! Each Monday on Facebook, weβll share a quick snapshot of important events and reminders for the week ahead. Weβll also include a link to our Mini Musketeers Weekly News slides that we share with students each week. We hope this gives families one more quick and easy way to stay in the know about whatβs happening at EWES. Watch for our first Monday Minute coming soon! ππ
We hope your family can join us for our first Family Fun Night of the yearβBack-to-School Bingo for Books this Thursday! Itβs a fun, FREE evening for our families to come together, enjoy some Bingo, and celebrate the start of another great year at East Washington Elementary. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Stacy Richardson, EWES Principal
π Leader in Me Habit of the Month: Be Proactive! π

Being proactive means taking responsibility for our choices, actions, and attitudes. Weβre helping students learn that while we canβt control everything that happens, we can control how we respond! We are excited to watch our Mini Musketeers grow into confident leaders who are ready to Lead the Way Every Day!

School Safety: Raptor Visitor Management System
At EWES, we use the Raptor Visitor Management System to help keep our school safe by screening all visitors who enter the building during school hours. This includes visits for conferences, volunteer activities, special events, and other school business. To make check-in quicker and easier, we encourage visitors to download the Raptor Visitor app and create an account before their next visit. Using the app can help expedite the check-in process each time you visit East Washington Elementary School.
π¬π Candy Drive Starts Today for Our Annual Trunk or Treat Event ππ¬
Our PTO is collecting bags of Halloween candy for our school groups to use at our annual Trunk-or-Treat event! ππ¬
Students can help βfeedβ our monsters, who are VERY hungry for candy! Be watching for those great Halloween candy sales and send in a bag or two if you are able.
We truly appreciate any and all donations that help make this fun event possible for our families!
Custody Paperwork: An Important Safety Reminder
To help us keep your child safe, please provide the school office with copies EVERY SCHOOL YEAR of any current custody or court documents that affect who may pick up your child, make educational decisions, or access school records. Without legal documentation on file, we must follow the information provided upon enrollment. If your custody arrangements change during the school year, please notify the office and provide updated paperwork as soon as possible.
TESTING NOTICE for All Parents
Each year, the state of Indiana requires students to participate in statewide assessments that help measure academic growth and guide instruction.

In the spring, all Grade 2 students, along with Grade 3 and Grade 4 students who have not yet earned a passing score, will participate in the IREAD assessment during the week of March 1β5, 2027. In addition, all Grade 3 and Grade 4 students will participate in ILEARN Checkpoints throughout the school year and the ILEARN Summative Assessment in the spring.
