SEPTEMBER 2026
WELCOME BACK
TO THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
A New School Year, A New Beginning! 🎒✨
We’re several weeks into the school year, and now is a great time to pause, reflect, and celebrate the progress we’ve already made. Each day gives us a new opportunity to start fresh, make a difference, and continue growing. Celebrate the small victories, give yourself grace, and keep moving forward.
Most importantly, continue to lean on one another, share ideas, ask for help, and celebrate each other’s successes. We are stronger when we work together and support one another.
Thank you for all you do each day for our students and our school community. Let’s embrace the opportunity for a fresh start each day and keep the momentum going! 🌟

MAP Testing: After-Assessment Update & New Standards Report
Great work wrapping up this MAP testing window! Now that testing is complete, it is time to dive into the data to celebrate growth and plan your next instructional moves. For complete resources, detailed steps, and answers to common questions, check out our Before, During, After document at tinyurl.com/CHUHBDAs.
What’s New: Standards-Aligned Insights We are excited to highlight the new Standards View in the Class Profile Report. This feature gives you actionable insights directly aligned with classroom instruction:
Standard-by-Standard Breakdown: View student performance distribution across individual Ohio standards for Math and ELA.
Proficiency Levels: Quickly see which students are likely proficient and which need targeted support.
Strategic Grouping: Easily form small groups for interventions, reinforcement, or extension based on likely proficiency.
Key Next Steps for Teachers
Analyze Your Class Profile: Review the Class Profile Report to analyze class performance, identify instructional trends, and create groups based on students’ results.
Share and Goal-Set: Use the Student Profile Report to confer with students about their growth, set custom RIT goals, and batch-print Family Reports (now available in Spanish) to share home.
Connect MAP Projections to OST Results: Check the Infinite Campus Data View to see how student MAP projections line up with their past OST performance, giving you a fuller picture to plan targeted instruction.
Upcoming Interim Testing: Preparation & Updated Assessments
As we prepare for our upcoming Interim Assessment window, please take a moment to review essential setup steps and important test updates designed to better align with our district pacing. Be sure to visit our Before, During, After document at tinyurl.com/CHUHBDAs for full support with all questions, setup tasks, and post-test strategies.
Updated Interim Assessments for SY 2026-2027 Several interims have been adjusted to better reflect current instructional scope and sequence:
Math: Grade 3 updated for pacing. Grades 4-8 and Algebra 1 removed un-taught future questions. Geometry removed future questions plus 1 additional item.
ELA: Grades 4 and 5 have been shortened to feature just one text set.
Science: Grades 4 and 5 updated to align with Explore Learning pacing. Grade 8 and Biology updated for new pacing. (Note: Grades 6 & 7 Science interims remain unchanged).
Social Studies: American History and American Government updated to reflect pacing and remove future questions.
Key Before Testing Reminders
Take the Interim Yourself: Review the test in the Interim Folder or preview it online to anticipate student misconceptions and model effective scratch-paper strategies. Record your predictions and curiosities about student performance on the Data Analysis Worksheet.
Prepare Student Materials: Print test tickets from TIDE (for OST-tested subjects) or set up your online portal in Renaissance (for Grades 4, 6, 7 Science). Ensure students have pencils, scratch paper, and approved calculators/reference sheets. ⭐Pro Move: Set up the paper with students and number the page so you can collect their work and understand why they chose an answer when reviewing results later.
Frame the Purpose: Remind students that interims are not graded - they are tools to help us see what standards have been mastered, what needs review, and how to prepare for the OST.

🔎 Spotlight on Success: New Staff 2026–27 Cohort
After a full week of New Staff Training, our 795 new team members still brought energy and great questions to their session with the Department of Enrollment and Analytics. Welcome to CH-UH, we can't wait to see your impact!
🔎 Spotlight on Success: Office & Attendance Teams
A big shout-out to our office staff, attendance team, and principals for digging into the attendance manual with Enrollment and Analytics, and thinking deeply about how they can impact student attendance!
Their commitment to getting this right shows in everything they do to make sure kids get to school, every single day. Thank you for showing up and preparing for kids before the year even begins!
🔎 Spotlight on Success: Kindergarten and 1st Grade Teachers, Canterbury and Noble Elementary Schools
Preparing our youngest learners for online assessments takes thoughtful planning, and several of our early elementary teachers went above and beyond to set their students up for a smooth MAP testing experience.
Jazmine Monroe (1st Grade, Noble) & Jenny Futchi (Kindergarten, Canterbury): Led engaging discussions while demonstrating how to manipulate the practice test, helping students feel comfortable navigating the online tools before testing began.
Becca Larson (Kindergarten, Noble): Facilitated a great discussion about using their "pink brain" while testing, reassuring students that it is completely okay not to know every answer and helping reduce testing anxiety.
Vanessa Hagan (Kindergarten, Noble): Watched the MAP video right before testing and had students complete a turn and talk with a neighbor to explain how to use the built-in testing tools so that students would feel confident when they came across them during the test.
Andrea Briggs (Kindergarten, Canterbury): Used a document camera to model the login steps, enabling every single one of her kindergarteners to independently enter their username and password to launch their test.
Taking the time to build these routines creates a calm, supportive testing environment where students can focus on showing what they know. Thank you all for your intentional preparation and dedication to our students!
🔎 Spotlight on Success: Grades 3-5 Team, Boulevard Elementary
Collaborative data conversations are most powerful when they look forward to upcoming instruction. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teams at Boulevard recently met alongside their support team to examine their OST Data Dashboard, using past performance as leading data to help shape their planning for the next unit.
Shout-out to teachers Karla Morris, Dusty Peterson, Julie Walker, Jenna Cahn, Genevieve Kenealy, Katherine Sferry, and Tameka Bradley, Title Support Angela Prince-Mahoney and Kristy Minnillo, and Principal Joi Curry-Mahoney for taking this proactive approach. By looking at standards-level trends before launching new content, this team is aligning their instruction directly to student needs and setting their classes up for success from day one!
