Bryn Mawr Bulletin
March 2026
Note from Mrs. Beverly
Hello Amazing Students and Families,
March is here, and with it comes signs of spring! Even though some days are still chilly, we are starting to notice longer days, brighter sunshine, and maybe even a few flowers peeking through the ground. Spring reminds us that this is a season for growing, and that is exactly what our students are doing every day!
This month, our classrooms are buzzing with learning. Kindergarten students are becoming strong readers and writers, practicing their letter sounds and sharing their stories. First graders are building their math skills and working together to solve problems. Second graders are showing leadership by helping others and stretching their thinking with more challenging books and projects. I am so proud of the effort, kindness, and curiosity I see when I visit classrooms.
March is also a wonderful time to focus on being a great friend. At school, we practice using kind words, including others in our games, and helping classmates when they need it. Small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference and help our school feel safe and welcoming for everyone.
Don’t forget, reading for just 10–15 minutes each night helps your brain grow stronger! Ask your child to tell you about their favorite part of the story or something new they learned at school.
Let’s keep showing our school pride by being respectful, responsible, safe and kind wherever we go.
Thank you to our families for your continued support. Together, we are helping our children learn, grow, and shine!
Wishing you a joyful March filled with learning and laughter.
With pride,
Mrs. Beverly
PS
Thanks to the families and students that participated in the Snow Day Games BOOM learning card challenge.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-2027 Year Now Open
Hello Auburn Community,
We are pleased to let you know that registration for Preschool and Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. All registrations will be completed online. If your child already attends the Auburn Integrated Preschool, you do NOT need to complete the online registration process. You will receive information from the preschool for next steps (which includes completing the returning student application when it goes out later this year, submitting residency documentation, and medical documentation). To formally register your child in the Auburn Public Schools if students are not at the Auburn Integrated Preschool, please visit the Student Registration Page on our website. We ask that if you plan to register your child, you do so as soon as possible. As you might expect, we will need ample time to plan for the coming year and the sooner we have a solid count of children who will attend, the more successful school openings will be.
If you or someone you know has a child turning 5 years of age by September 1, 2026, and are interested in registering for kindergarten, please follow the link above. If you or someone you know has a child turning 3 or 4 years of age by September 1, 2026, and are interested in enrolling in our preschool for the fall, you can do so by following the link above.
You must be a resident of Auburn to attend the Auburn Public Schools.
There are specific registration links for Preschool and Kindergarten. Please be sure to select the correct link and the correct school once you enter the registration portal.
Proof of residency (noted below) must be brought, mailed or emailed to the appropriate school.
A raised seal birth certificate must be brought to the school to be copied or can be mailed to the school. If mailed to the school, it will not be returned to you.
If you are not sure which school your child will attend for kindergarten, please call either Bryn Mawr or Pakachoag and a staff member will assist you.
If possible, please upload all the documents to the registration portal.
All children of school age who reside in the Town of Auburn will be entitled to attend the public schools.
Every student seeking admission to the school for the first time must present a birth certificate or equivalent proof of age acceptable to the principal and proof of vaccination and immunization as required by the state and the School Committee.
Two forms documenting proof of residency (one from Category A and one from Category B)
Category A:
● Deed
The following items must be dated within the past 60 days
● Current paid residential real estate tax bill (from the home in Auburn in which you are residing)
● Fully signed and executed Purchase and sale agreement, followed by official closing paperwork, or mortgage statement with address
● Current (not expired) Rental or lease agreement with Auburn address, signed by tenant and landlord or property manager, with all residents listed
Category B:
● Voter registration with an Auburn address
The following items must be dated within the past 60 days
● Trash, water, electric, cable, gas, or oil bill under parent/guardian name with Auburn address
● Homeowner or Rental insurance bill with Auburn address
**If you do not rent or own in Auburn and are living with an Auburn resident, a Residency
Affidavit must be completed and notarized. The owner or lessee of the property must also provide an item from Category A and Category B. The Residency Affidavit can be found on our website. You must also provide a current bill, voter registration or mail in your name with the Auburn address.**
The administration reserves the right to request proof of residency at any time.
If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact the appropriate person below. Please stay tuned for more information regarding school programming, student screening and transition opportunities that will take place later in the school year. We look forward to working with you.

Bus Registration is Now Open
This message was in Dr. Chamberland's newsletter, but wanted to ensure our Bryn Mawr families saw that bus registration is now open for the 2026-2027 school year. Please register as soon as possible if your child takes the bus.
2026-2027 BUS TRANPORTATION REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
It is hard to believe that we are already planning for the 2026-2027 school year. As we have done for several years now, we will be using an online Bus Application for 2026-2027 and applications are now being accepted.
There is a graduated fee schedule for all payments received after May 1st, so we urge you to apply and provide payment before May 1st. This allows us a much better planning window and saves you money!
We hope that families will apply electronically and as soon as possible, by following the link above. You can follow this link to the Rules and Regulations for APS Busing. All paper applications and fees must be sent in, or dropped off, at 5 West Street and can be left in the locked drop box outside of the main entrance.
Please apply early and remember, your application is NOT complete until we receive the bus fee. All students for whom applications are received after August 14th, will be placed on a waiting list.
If you have questions, please call the Central Office at 508-832-7755 or email apsbus@auburn.k12.ma.us.
Kindergarten Update
In February, kindergarteners wrapped up units on living and nonliving things, plants and foods on the farm, and seasons. Next, we begin focusing on weather, as well as animals and their babies. We will also work on building words with our last vowel to be introduced: Uu. Now that students have learned all five, they will begin substituting letter sounds to make new words; i.e. changing PAT to PUT or MAT to MET.
In Math, we have completed our units on two dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. We enjoyed many shape hunts and finding shapes all around us. Simple subtraction followed by the tricky teen numbers will be our next two topics.
It is amazing to see students reading and writing sentences! We will continue to work on adding detail to sentences as well as rereading and editing work to ensure they show off their 5 star writing skills! In our Empowering Writers program, we have been choosing words that make our writing more interesting, like real authors do. A main goal is for students to see themselves as authors and find the best way to express their ideas to their reader. Students are really working on reading comprehension; stopping and thinking about the stories they hear.
When reading at home, remember to ask questions about characters, setting, problem and solution and ask students to speak in full sentences rather than one-word answers. Please continue to celebrate all the excellent work that comes home.
First Grade News
Winter is here! So much snow! Please be sure to dress children warmly with coats, gloves/mittens, snow pants, and hats so that they can enjoy time in all the snow at recess. We really enjoyed celebrating the 100th day of school. We can not believe how fast this school year is going! In reading, we will be reading different types of genres including folktales, non fictions and fiction texts. Please continue to practice high frequency words and read the decodables that come home. They are great practice for fluency and accuracy. In math students wiIl be using tens and ones to organize and count. We will also be working on operations of tens and ones. During Empowering writers we continue to practice sentences of the day. We will be learning about the moon and stars in science. The students have been working so hard! We are so proud of their hard work! We continue to appreciate donations of tissues, and Clorox wipes. Stay warm!
Second Grade Scoop
Second grade students have been busy with routines, displaying acts of kindness and developing positive peer relations. In reading, we have focused on identifying characters, plot and setting along with identifying main ideas and supporting details. We have read a variety of genres such as fiction, poetry, and expository text. In math, students are working on place value and comparing numbers. Students have been enjoying the many topics covered in science and social studies through instruction and class projects. We are developing and growing as writers each and every day. Reminder to practice solid reading habits at home to support all the hard work in the classroom. We are so excited to witness the daily growth and learning that is taking place here with our BM second graders! We thank you for all of your continued support as we prepare your child for grade 3! Think Spring!
PTO Popcorn Fundraiser!
The Auburn PTO is hosting a Fundraiser. The dates were from February 25th-February 28th, but due to the snow the date is now March 4th. The PTO will send home flyers this week. February 28th. The popcorn is delicious, and it is a super easy fundraiser. All you have to do is create an account through the Double Good app or www.doublegood.com, enter the code SEL YJR. Then share the link with anyone you think would be popping with excitement to support your child and the Auburn PTO to help fund programs and enrichment opportunities for our school.
We hope we can count on your family to do your part, help spread the word and help us sell some popcorn for an amazing cause- supporting the PTO to support our students!
