Rod's Random Thoughts

Happy Monday Hornets!

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed watching the success of our home teams over the weekend. It was great to see the Seahawks bounce back and the M’s making a push to the playoffs.

We have a full week of fun ahead at Enumclaw High School this week. Starting this Monday, the Securly Digital Hall Pass will be in effect. Students can now request a pass via their Chromebooks, and staff will be able to track pass usage in real time. The goal is to reduce wandering and long unscheduled breaks, improve consistency across classrooms, and support a more efficient and safe learning environment for everyone. Training for both staff and students has been underway, and we are fully operational as of today.

As always, there’s plenty going on beyond the new hall pass system. Be sure to check the schedule for Monday’s homeroom, and keep tabs on upcoming events like the EHS Dance Team interest meeting, the One Team Goosechase, and the Principal’s Student Advisory Council (EPSAC) application deadline.

The Article of the Week is from the Center for American Progress and is titled “Elevating Student Voice in Education”. The article emphasizes that when schools intentionally create opportunities for students to share their perspectives and shape decision-making, everyone benefits. This directly connects with our efforts at EHS through the Principal’s Student Advisory Council (EPSAC), student leadership opportunities, and activities like the Goosechase. By giving students a seat at the table, we not only strengthen our school community but also help prepare our Hornets to be thoughtful, engaged leaders beyond high school. I hope you will check it out.

That’s all for now - let’s make it a great week!

EHS Digital Hall Pass

Enumclaw High School is moving to a digital hall pass system called Securly Pass to make things easier and safer for everyone. Instead of using paper passes, students can now request a pass on their Chromebook and staff can see who’s out of class in real time. The pass stays active until the student checks in at their destination, helping to cut down on wandering or long breaks. This system also keeps things more consistent across classrooms and helps track tardies automatically, making it quicker and more efficient for staff to support students and keep the school running smoothly.

Staff and students will receive training on the new system over the next two weeks. We hope to be fully operational by Monday, September 15, 2025.

EHS One Team Goosechase

The EHS One Team Goosechase is a fun and interactive way to get involved in the life of our school! It’s a great opportunity to team up with friends, show your school spirit, and discover new ways to get connected. Whether you’re snapping photos, completing tasks, or checking out different events, the Goosechase is all about building community and having a blast while doing it. Join the Principal’s Student Advisory Council!

EHS is looking for students to be part of the Principal’s Student Advisory Council (EPSAC) this year! This group’s main job is to share student perspectives and give feedback to the principal, staff, and leadership team. We’ll meet every two weeks to talk about new ideas, student issues, and things that impact life at EHS.

EPSAC is meant to be a two-way conversation—students bring their voices to the table, and leadership shares updates and gets input before moving forward with new ideas. Think of it as a fast-moving team that helps make EHS even better.

Use this link to access the application - EPSAC Application

Applications are due Monday, September 22, 2025.
