Superintendents' Message

Dear Shoreline Community,

A poorly kept secret in schools is that educators often view May as the longest month of the school year. Mathematically, with its thirty-one days and lone Monday holiday, it is probably pretty close, however teachers, principals, custodians and everyone else refer to it as the “hundred days of May”. I am pretty sure students would too, if we were to ask them. And that’s all because there is just so much going on.

State Tests, AP Tests, Field Trips, Open Houses, Performances, Award Nights, End-of-the-Year Celebrations, Sporting Events, we are trying to get it all in before the year comes to a close and everyone can exhale, and relax for a couple of months. In addition, staff is doing all of the planning and prepping necessary in the spring to set us up for next year, before everyone takes a break to exhale, and relax for a couple of months, and then do it all over again. Such a busy, fun, and exhausting time of year.

If you have the time, we would love to have you join our LCAP Parent Town Hall on May 6th at 6pm to discuss our progress on this year’s goals, and get feedback on where to make adjustments for next year. It will be over zoom, and will offer lots of opportunity to provide input into our ongoing strategic planning. Stay tuned for the link over Parent Square next week, or find it on our website.

Happy May, and Good Luck!

In community,

Adam Jennings
