FCPS Community Bulletin Board

Superintendent’s Message
Recently, I was reminded of a quote by A.A. Milne, author of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories, that resonates deeply with me:
“Piglet noticed that even though he had a very small heart, it could hold a rather large amount of gratitude.”
This sentiment captures how I feel as I reflect on our school community.
Each day, I am reminded that gratitude is not rooted in grand gestures, but in the collective efforts of individuals who care deeply about one another and are steadfast in their commitment to student success. I am profoundly grateful for our dedicated staff, who consistently demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping every student learn, grow, and thrive.
I am equally thankful for our students, whose curiosity, resilience, and growth inspire us daily and remind us why this work matters.
Our community’s support is another source of deep appreciation. Families, community members, and partners continually demonstrate their confidence in public education and their belief in the future of our children. This shared commitment strengthens our schools and reinforces the importance of working together.
I also wish to acknowledge the positive and collaborative relationships we share with our elected officials. Thoughtful dialogue and a shared dedication to serving our community allow us to move forward in meaningful and productive ways.
Like Piglet, my heart holds a great deal of gratitude. Thank you for the trust you place in our schools and for the many ways you contribute to the success of our district. It is truly an honor to serve this community.
As a reminder, FCPS Winter Break will be observed from Monday, December 22, through Friday, January 2. I wish you and your family a safe, restful Winter Break and a happy and healthy New Year.
Thank you,
Dr. Dyson
