A.D.S. ElementarySchoolOctober, 2025 School Newsletter

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the parents and community members who joined us for our Open House BBQ and Annual General Meeting. It was wonderful to connect with you and to see the excitement on our students’ faces as they returned to their familiar playground and classrooms. This event was truly a team effort, and I’m especially grateful to our amazing ADS staff for helping everything run so smoothly. Your dedication is deeply appreciated.

This year we’re thrilled to welcome 15 new K4 students and their families into our school community, bringing our total enrolment to 144 students at ADS Elementary. Our ongoing goal is to build strong, positive relationships between your family and our staff. When we work together, your children — our students — experience the best possible learning environment.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been focused on helping students learn and reinforce school routines and expectations while also nurturing relationships — because attachment and connection are key to a successful school experience.

The week of September 22-26, we celebrated Support Staff Week, recognizing the incredible contributions of the people who keep our school running smoothly. From the front office, the buses to the classrooms, our support staff make a difference every single day — ensuring our students feel safe, supported, and cared for. Thank you for all that you do!

Schoolbeat (formally known as Moozoom) Schoolbeat (formally known as Moozoom)

Schoolbeat (formally known as Moozoom) is a Quebec Based program that supports students from K4- Grade 6 understand how to identify and work with their emotions in a way that respects others and helps them stay happy and healthy. Knowing that mental wellness is such a big issue in society today, and it is one of our Educational Project’s Objectives, we love how Schoolbeat fits into our school weeks. Be sure to ask your children about it!

This month, the kindergarten 4 and 5 year olds are getting comfortable with recognizing/ naming emotions.

The grade 1-6 students are learning about Teamwork and Collaboration - one of our ADS Values! Please see the parent letter with tips and tricks.

When students log into Schoolbeat, they let us know how they are feeling, making sure that we have quick access to those who may need more support managing their feelings.

Fire Drill and Lock Down Practices

The Eastern Township School Board and ADS Elementary School take their responsibilities very seriously , to ensure the safety and well -being of your child/ children. As part of our Safe School Policy, we have procedures to secure the building, in the event of an emergency. As you may be aware, our school, in accordance with the procedures and along with all the schools of our School Boards, has established a Local Emergency Response Team ( LERT). This team, composed of staff from all sectors, is being trained to respond to different types of emergencies that may arise.

As a result, we will be practicing what to do if an emergency arises. We have held multiple fire -drills at various times in the months of September. In addition to fire drills, our school is ready to implement drills for what is termed a “Lockdown” . A “Lockdown” will be initiated should a high -risk incident involving an intruder, or similar threat, occur. During a “Lockdown”, staff will direct and accompany students in securing themselves in their classrooms or other safe rooms , until such time school officials declare that the danger is past.

In order for all students and staff to become familiar with the expectations during a lockdown, our school will practice emergency lockdown procedures on a regular basis , just as we do with fire drills. Our first lockdown drill will be on October 7th. The students will be aware that this is a practice prior to it taking place.

Please expect that your child/ children may discuss this event with you, or ask you questions about it. Take advantage of this opportunity to assure them that these are only precautionary measures for their safety. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time .

Reporting Periods:

November 20, 2025 - Parent/Teacher Conferences

February 25, 2026 - 2nd Report

February 25, 2026 - Parent/Teacher Conferences

June 30, 2026 - Final Report

Interim Reports:

Your child’s interim report was made available on the MOZAïK Portal on October 15th. Please note that these interim reports do not contain marks or grades. Instead, they are designed as a mid-term check-in to provide you with an overview of your child’s progress so far in the core subjects.

The purpose of the interim report is to give both you and your child an opportunity to reflect on their learning, celebrate successes, and identify areas where they may need additional support or focus. We encourage you to review the report together and have a conversation about what is going well, any challenges your child may be facing, and the goals they can set moving forward.

If you have any questions or would like more information about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher.

As indicated previously, report cards are now issued electronically and are accessible through the parent portal. Reminder instructions on how to use the parent portal are available on the school website

Healthy Practices We must remind you that a sick student (fever, gastro, flu, etc.) should not come to school. The student should stay home until feeling able to attend regular classes. In case of an accident or sudden illness occurring during school hours, parents will be notified and should take charge of their child as soon as possible. Parents are always the main responsible persons for their child. In the best interest of our students, it is essential that emergency contact information be provided and be updated whenever there are modifications. If a taxi or ambulance is needed, the charge will have to be paid by the parents.

Recesses and Weather: A reminder that we do send our students out for their recess breaks in rain or shine. It is important to verify that your child(ren) are prepared for all weather conditions. Rain coats and rubber boot are a must, and they are welcome to bring an umbrella as well!

School Fees: Please note that school fees are due to be paid. If you have any questions, please contact the office. Your child's invoice can be found on the Mozaïk Portal.
