Registration for the 2026/2027 School Year!
Returning students can now register through Q/ParentConnection for the 26/27 school year.* The Online Registration System works best in Chrome/Firefox/Safari browsers. If you do not have access to a device we will have various in-person registration events during summer break. If you need help with your ParentConnection pin or a password reset please contact Ms. Lee at 907-742-0593 or by email at lee_melissa@asdk12.org.
Locker Clean Out - Last day for Chromebooks
Begich will hold locker clean out for all students on Friday, May 15th. Please remind students to start bringing items home this week that are no longer needed. The last day for students to bring Chromebooks to school is Thursday, May 14th. 8th grade students will take their Chromebooks with them to high school, returning students will return with their Chromebooks in August.
7 Period Schedule to Continue at Middle School
Middle School Schedule Update for Next Year
ASD is pausing the transition to a 6-period schedule for one year. During this time, middle schools will continue with a 7 period schedule with slightly increased class sizes compared to this year, and Begich will be able to offer additional electives or core offerings to reflect these changes.
What this means for families:
No action is needed regarding course selection—students have already submitted their preferences. Families should complete online registration, now open in ParentConnect.
Looking ahead:
Next year, we’ll offer opportunities for students and families to share feedback on program and elective priorities as we plan for a future 6-period day.
ASD Summer Food Service Program
Our students are growing fast and it seems to accelerate over the summer! Click here for the ASD Summer Food Service Program schedule.
Begich Band
My name is Alexa Grundon and I am the band teacher at Begich Middle School!
Band is a fun AND exciting experience where students learn to read and perform music, be responsible, and develop a life long appreciation for the arts. We are on a mission to provide all necessary band supplies free of charge to incoming 6th graders. Please consider donating to our classroom projects to provide essential items for 6th graders and make next year a success for the Begich Middle School band students! Thank you! https://www.donorschoose.org/begichband
Fall 2026 Sports and Physicals
This is a great time to make an appointment for your student to get a physical with their doctor during summer break. All student athletes need to have a physical within the past 18 months. In the Fall, Begich will offer Boys Basketball and Cross Country Running.
8th Graders should know that high school fall sports start at the end of July or early August. High school fall sports include: running, swimming, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, riflery, flag football (girls), and football (boys).
PE Department News
Congratulations to our Snow Leopards and families for finishing up the 25-26 school year! We’re proud of our students for an amazing year of PE! Students have grown in their fitness levels, athletic skills and abilities, sports concepts, and team mentalities. We hope students will continue being physically active during the summer. Here are a few ways to enjoy exercise in the great outdoors over the next few months: walk, jog, hike, bike, rollerblade, basketball, football, badminton, soccer, tennis, softball, baseball, wiffleball, street hockey, pickleball, ultimate frisbee, run races, swim, triathlons, kayak, rock climb, geocache, orienteer, fish, and/or utilize an outdoor workout center. Have a great summer!
