Warren School Weekly Update

May 1, 2026
On Tuesday, many of our students had the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics, a wonderful collaboration between five local communities. Our students took part in a soccer-themed event at Medway High School and did an outstanding job! The day began in a very special way, as our athletes were escorted by police to Medway High School. It was a memorable and meaningful experience for all involved. Photos from the event are included below.
On Thursday, we held our April Whole School Assembly, centered on the theme of confidence. Students enjoyed impressive presentations from Ms. Mantos’ kindergarten class, as well as Ms. Sinanian’s and Ms. Peterson’s second grade classes. These presentations highlighted the incredible work our students engage in each day and offered great examples of how we can continue to build confidence in ourselves and others.
Throughout the spring, we have many opportunities to recognize and appreciate the dedicated individuals who support our school each day. Below, you will find information from our PTO regarding Staff Appreciation Week. Today, we also celebrated Lunch Hero Day, where our students and staff showed their gratitude for our outstanding nutrition team here at Warren School. Be sure to ask your child how they shared their appreciation! We are incredibly thankful to our nutrition staff for the care, energy, and support they provide to our students each day.
As a reminder, next Friday, May 8, will be an early release day, with dismissal at 1:15 p.m. This time will be used for staff training.
Have a great weekend

Growing Strong, Thoughtful Readers This Spring 🌱
What’s Happening in Class
This month, students are learning that good readers don’t just read the words—they think while they read.
Across all grade levels, children are practicing how to stop and ask themselves:
Does this make sense?
What might happen next?
Why did that happen?
“Stop and think strategy”
Readers are learning to pause while reading and check their understanding. These small thinking moments help students better understand and enjoy what they read.
They might:
Reread when something doesn’t make sense
Make a prediction about what will happen next
Talk about what a character is thinking or feeling
Try This Tonight: While your child is reading, pause and ask: What are you thinking right now?” Encourage them to share their ideas—even if they’re not sure yet!
Warm regards,
Kathy Ferrecchia

Thank you for making Literacy Night a huge success!
Warren School's Social Emotional Learning Update:
Hello Families,
This month we are learning about CONFIDENCE.
We have defined CONFIDENCE as: believing in yourself and trusting that you can do something, even if it is hard.
Here are some things you can do to help your child develop confidence:
- Praise them for their effort instead of end results.
- Encourage them to try new things. Help them find their passion.
- Normalize mistakes. It is tempting to jump in and fix things for your children, but confidence comes when they solve problems on their own.
- Embrace imperfection, having flaws is part of being human!
- Encourage and model positive self talk. When starting a challenging task, have them say things like, “I’ve done hard things before!” or “This may be hard but I’m going to try my best.”
