Veteran's Day Assembly
JROTC News
It was a typical busy November for the JROTC cadets. They served meals for almost 500 veterans at the veterans village in Branson, we performed 5 separate color guard events during the week, had our birthday ball celebration, marched in a parade and still found time to take a trip to Kansas City to see the WWI museum. Not to mention the fantastic new workout program we have started, where if we don't have access to weights we just find whatever is laying around and use that (tires, logs,...another student). The cadets truly lived up to the motto of "Improvise, adapt, and overcome."
Notable mention to Samantha Hanley and Jackson May who both narrowly missed making it to the National JROTC shooting competition. Samantha missed it by just 5 points and Jackson by 10.
During the month of December, they had a fairly light schedule. On the 7th the color guard was requested by the Clay Cooper Theater to perform as part of their commemoration show for Pearl Harbor day. The shooting team has started their competition season and will be shooting in several matches; best of luck to them. They will also be marching in the Forsyth Christmas parade. Lastly, they will be assisting Wreaths Across America in laying wreaths on 1,000 veterans graves at various locations in Branson on 17 December.
Blue & White Pep Assembly
Scrambled Eggs
On November 17th, the Forsyth Fire Department assisted Mr. Jackson's Physical Science class with some High Speed Egg Scrambling. The students were studying Force and Motion and they were tasked with building a module designed to protect an egg from the hazards of a 50 foot fall. Students used a variety of designs and materials to build what they believed to be a viable vehicle to withstand the impact from a 4.5 story fall. It was a great hands-on project that promoted creativity, problem solving and engineering all while having a great time.
