Well, we made it! Between trick-or-treating, classroom parties, costumes, and all the excitement that comes with the end of October, I have a feeling there are more than a few tired children (and parents!) out there. It's been a busy stretch, but watching our students enjoy these experiences and share in the fun with their friends has been a wonderful way to wrap up the month.

I also want to thank everyone who helped make October such a memorable month at Burbank. From our families who joined us for conferences to those who volunteered, contributed to classroom celebrations, or simply helped navigate some very excited preschoolers through the week, we appreciate all of you. Our staff put a tremendous amount of thought and effort into making these experiences special while keeping the routines and relationships that our students depend on.

And now, somehow, November is already here. We'll be turning our clocks back this weekend, but we're looking forward to stepping into a new month together. Hopefully that extra hour of sleep finds its way to a few of our Burbank households. Although, anyone with a preschooler knows better than to count on it!

Have a wonderful weekend, Burbank!

At Burbank, being safe and kind isn't about getting everything right all the time. It's about learning, practicing, and making choices that help everyone feel welcome and cared for. We see those lessons taking shape every day, often in ways our students don't even realize.

Over the past few weeks, I've had the opportunity to visit classrooms for read-alouds centered around these same ideas. We've been reading two books that connect beautifully to our Be Safe, Be Kind values. The first, Wild Feelings by David Milgrim, explores the big emotions we all experience. We've paired the story with some simple deep-breathing strategies that children can use when those feelings become overwhelming. The second, A Small Kindness by Stacy McAnulty, shows how even the smallest acts of kindness can spread from one person to another.

Our students have really enjoyed these stories and the conversations they've sparked. Both are worth checking out from your local library or adding to your home collection if you're looking for simple ways to continue these conversations at home.

And, of course, we're excited to recognize this week's Be Safe, Be Kind Ambassadors for the positive ways they're contributing to our Burbank community!

Looking for a way to get involved at Burbank?

Our PTO's Helping Hands program offers families opportunities to support their child's classroom in ways that work with their schedules. Teachers have identified specific ways volunteers can lend a hand, both inside and outside the classroom.

This program is separate from our classroom parent liaisons and is open to all families who would like to help! Simply find your child's teacher on the sign-up form and choose an opportunity that works for you. If your child has a difficult time with drop-off or separation, an outside-the-classroom opportunity may be a better fit.

Once you've signed up, you'll receive additional details about your volunteer opportunity. We're grateful to our PTO for organizing another way for families to be part of the Burbank community!

Kindness is something we work to practice every day at Burbank, and we're excited to celebrate World Kindness Day on Thursday, November 12th! Our Burbank PTO is encouraging all students and staff to wear their Burbank PTO shirts as a fun way to show our school spirit and celebrate the importance of being kind to others.

It's a simple way to remind our students that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference. We can't wait to see everyone showing their Burbank pride!

Please take a moment to review the traffic guide below. Enter from Burbank Dr, turn right into the first parking aisle, and follow it to the back of the lot. Turn left and continue around to the roundabout, exiting onto Burbank Dr. Following this pattern each visit, driving slowly, and watching for pedestrians helps keep everyone safe. Thank you for helping us care for our Burbank students and families!
