Summer Learning Opprotunities!

According to Scholastic, students lose nearly "20% of their school-year gains in reading" and elementary-aged students are the most at risk because they are at a pivotal point in their reading development. However, there are easy things you can do over the summer to help keep your child's skills sharp and decrease the likelihood of a "summer slide!"

  • Have your child read what they want.
  • Make time for smart play, including puzzles.
  • Get out of the house. (You could visit the library, zoo, park, etc.)
  • Promote imagination use by your child.
  • Encourage your child to complete Lexia Summer Reading Bingo Boards.

Mother's Day Flowers

Mother’s Day flowers from the Student Council fundraiser will be sent home with students on Friday May 12th. If your child ordered flowers and they are not at school Friday, please make arrangements to pick up the flowers after school between 3:30-4pm. After 4pm any remaining flowers will be in the front breezeway with your child’s name on them. We cannot guarantee they will last through the weekend without being watered.

A Tech Department member will contact you within two business days to assist. If your student is leaving the district over the summer, they will need to turn in their Chromebook on the last day of school. Please click HERE or visit bit.ly/scscbl to submit your student’s name to inform our department to collect the Chromebook. If you have any questions, please contact Dave Binkley at dbinkley@scsmustangs.org.

Notes from the Office:

  • If you are planning on moving out of district or to a different part of Strongsville over the summer, please reach out to Mrs. Marconi so she can assist in your smooth transition!
