ACT and PreACT Testing

Once again we will soon be taking some assessments. Students hopefully will take them seriously. This is the last "free" ACT that we will be able to offer our seniors that signed up. If you missed the sign up go to ACT.ORG for the next available test date. If you think you might qualify for a waiver, see Mrs. Harp.

There are MANY apps that will help with ACT prep.

March2success.com -Create a free account. They have many practice tests.

Khan Academy has great resources for ACT

Act.org has some online resources as well.

FASFA OPENS TOMORROW

FASFA application is opening Oct. 1st (tomorrow). Mrs. Harp is scheduling a Parent Senior night with a few speakers to give information as well as a FASFA night where parents can bring their information and complete the form with a pro at FASFA.

OSU: The Leadership Experience (TLX) 2021

I received this email and wanted to pass it along. This might be a great opportunity for students to put themselves out there and experience new things. I did see that the student would be required to provide transportation from the university to the hotel and back. This might be an issue for most.

Dear Teachers and Counselors,

We would love for your student-leader to attend The Leadership Experience (TLX) 2021, hosted by the President’s Leadership Council at Oklahoma State University!

The Fall TLX, The Leadership Experience on October 9th and October 10th, is a two-day high school leadership conference intended to empower and equip young student leaders to create positive change! This Fall's TLX is focusing on building a culture of philanthropy and service in your high school. We are excited to teach young students how to fundraise for nonprofits, create awareness within your community, and how to be an inclusive servant leader. We are inviting all sophomores, juniors, and seniors!”

Please have your student utilize this checklist to ensure that all necessary forms have been paid, completed, scanned and emailed to osuleadership@okstate.edu no later than October 7.

Payment

The registration fee for attending The Leadership Experience at OSU is $125.00. This fee covers the participants lodging, meals, conference materials and t-shirt. In order to confirm your student’s place at the conference, we need to receive their nonrefundable registration fee, T-shirt size request, liability, and medical release forms. Participants will be staying at a hotel and they are responsible for their transportation from the OSU Campus to the hotel.

OSU Guidelines for Campus Visitors and University Events

Oklahoma State University is adhering to CDC guidelines with respect to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Social distancing, the wearing of facial coverings and good hand hygiene are just a few of the expectations for campus visitors and those attending OSU activities until further notice. We appreciate full cooperation for the continued support of our community’s health and well-being.

Students can register and pay online here.

Virtual College Fairs

We hope you'll encourage your students to register for free at virtualcollegefairs.org.

More than 100,000 students and families signed up for NACAC virtual fairs this past spring. Students give them an enthusiastic "thumbs up" because it's so easy to chat live with college representatives or drop in on live Zoom sessions offered by hundreds of colleges on a single day.

Counselor's Resource page. Scroll half way down for "Getting Started Resources". They have a video and a Quick Start Guide if you need more assistance.
