Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
College Park Families,
March 17 is a HUGE day for College Park Elementary! On this day, our school will be formally assessed on our implementation of the Leader in Me process as we pursue designation as a Lighthouse School. This recognition represents three years of intentional leadership development, student goal-setting, data tracking, and schoolwide systems that empower every child to lead.
Throughout the day, we will host parent panels, student panels, classroom observations, and leadership showcases. Our students will have the opportunity to shine by demonstrating how they set goals, track progress, apply the 7 Habits, and lead within their classrooms and Houses. It will be a full day of celebrating and sharing the incredible systems and culture we have built together.
We need every student present and prepared to represent College Park with excellence. Please ensure your child is in full uniform and ready to shine with their best leadership smile.
Uniform Expectations:
-
House color t-shirt or polo
-
Khaki pants or khaki skirt
If your family needs support with a uniform item, please contact the school. We are happy to assist. As spring approaches, a House t-shirt or polo paired with khakis is perfect for the day.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our success is a direct result of our strong school-family connection. Let’s show the Lighthouse team what College Park leadership looks like!
With pride and gratitude,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

Decades of Excellence What a Night
First, the lights dimmed and just like that we were taken back in time. Each grade level hit the stage representing a different decade, and the energy in the room was unmatched. From the music to the fashion, our scholars truly brought history to life in a way that had the entire audience cheering.
Our bucket drummers set the tone with electrifying rhythms that echoed through the building and instantly got everyone on their feet. Their focus, teamwork, and stage presence were incredible.
Then came our second graders and they absolutely stole the show. Performing as iconic boy groups & 80s singers, they had the crowd rocking from start to finish. The confidence, the moves, had everyone smiling and singing along.
Our cheerleaders proudly represented the Divine 9, honoring the powerful legacy and impact of these historic organizations. The pride and unity they displayed reminded us why culture, history, and representation matter so much.
The excitement continued when our adult staff choir took the stage. Seeing our educators perform was a beautiful reminder of the strong community we share at College Park Elementary. They truly brought the house down.
Throughout the entire evening, you could see the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that went into every performance. Our scholars practiced with purpose, and it showed in every step, lyric, beat, and smile.
From our talented performers to our supportive staff members who helped make the night of excellence one to remember. Decades of Excellence was a powerful celebration of culture, history, and the greatness within our very own College Park Elementary scholars.
What a night 💛🖤✨
