The Tiger Times The Promise Career Institute Community Newsletter

Dear Promise Career Institute Families,

What a wonderful start to the school year! The energy in our hallways has been electric, and it’s been a joy to see our students settling in, making connections, and embracing the opportunities ahead. Thank you for your continued support in helping us create a positive and purposeful learning environment.

As we move forward together, here are just a couple of gentle reminders to help keep things running smoothly:

  • Transportation: Please ensure students have consistent transportation to and from their zoned schools each day. This helps them arrive on time, ready to learn, and ensures a safe journey home.
  • Personal Devices: To maintain a focused learning environment, the district’s electronic device policy states that personal devices may not be used during class time. After the first reminder, any personal device used in the classroom will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian.

We’re excited about all that’s ahead and grateful to be on this journey with you. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this year one to remember!

Reading Rewards at PCI

Reading the prize but there are some fun treats for logging your minutes on Beanstack. Last week, Kaeden Walker won a Chick-fil-a gift card for reading and tracking it online. Every minute reading counts! Parents, ask your child to show how they can track their minutes on Beanstack.

Also, don't forget to return all overdue library books!

Transportation Transportation

Here Come the Bus

Reliable Transportation Methods:

  • Parent/Guardian Drop-Off: Begins at 8:00 AM
  • Parent/Guardian Pick-Up: Between 3:15 PM – 4:30 PM
  • Parent/Guardian provides transportation to the zoned school for students to catch the PCI magnet bus.

Bus Transportation:

  • PCI provides bus service to and from the zoned school.
  • If students elect to use neighborhood buses to reach the zoned school, please know that if the neighborhood buses run late, students may miss the PCI bus departing from the zoned school and/or they may miss the departing bus in the afternoon. We also ask that if PCI students elect to take the neighborhood buses, that they demonstrate excellent behavior that is reflective of a PCI student.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for PCI Students in 2025-2026 Free Breakfast and Lunch for PCI Students in 2025-2026

All students enrolled at PCI will be offered a healthy school breakfast and school lunch for FREE in the 2025-2026 school year.

We are getting free meals for all students as part of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program through a choice for schools called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

What does this mean for parents?

  • Parents do not have to fill out any meal application forms for their children attending your school.
  • Parents do not have to pay any money for their child’s school breakfast or school lunch.
  • If parents want their child to buy extra portions or snacks from the school café, they must send money or place money on their child’s meal account.

Emergency Mental Health Resources:

The following facilities provide 24-hour assistance and have shared with the district that they will complete emergency assessments at no cost. If your child already receives support from a mental health provider, you may wish to contact that professional first. You may also want to check with your insurance company regarding mental/behavioral health coverage. Please note that the district does not endorse any provider, makes no representations as to the effectiveness of these providers, and makes this information available only as a helpful resource.
