Homecoming 2024 is just a few short weeks away. This year’s Homecoming Week takes place the week of September 30th - October 5th. The theme of Homecoming 2024 is “Music Genres.”

Homecoming Activities

Classes will be competing for the “Homecoming Championship” throughout the week. Classes will accrue points during the week through participation in dress-up days, class games, float & banner rankings, Dodgeball, Boys’ Volleyball, and Girls’ Powder Puff Football. The class that wins the Homecoming Championship will receive a pizza party during Flex Period the following week. Boys’ Volleyball and Girls’ Powder Puff finals will take place on Friday morning, and the community is invited to enjoy the festivities. Please come show your Pioneer Pride at the Varsity Football game vs. Palmyra-Eagle on Friday night at 7:00 PM. Wrapping up all the fun, the Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, October 5th from 8:00-11:00 PM.

Homecoming Parade

The Homecoming Parade will take place at 2:00 PM downtown on Friday, October 4th and will follow the traditional parade route. We are hoping that our community’s many clubs, organizations, and businesses participate in the Homecoming Parade by entering a float, banner or vehicle. If you would like to participate in the parade, please go to our school district's website. Click on Menu > Athletics & Activities Home > Homecoming > Homecoming Parade Entry Form. Please complete the form and return it to the office or email it to Hillary.Noe@westfieldpioneers.org by October 1st.

Homecoming Dance

The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, October 5th from 8:00-11:00 PM in the Westfield High School Auxiliary Gym. Dance attire will be semi-formal. Tickets to the dance are $5.00 per student. Students wishing to bring a guest from a different school must fill out a Homecoming Guest Dance Request Form in the office. The “Grand March” takes place at 8:30 PM. Parents, family members, and members of the community are welcome to visit the dance to watch and take pictures at the Grand March, free of charge.

Parent/Teacher Conferences Parent/Teacher Conferences

Westfield High School/Middle School Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, October 14th from 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Conferences are held in each teacher's classroom and no appointment is necessary.

We encourage all parents and guardians to visit their child's teacher to learn about their progress, establish positive relationships, and to formulate plans for student success.

Community Trick or Treat Spooktacular Community Trick or Treat Spooktacular

The Westfield Area High School Student Council will host their annual Community Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular at Westfield Area High School on Thursday, October 31st from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The members of Westfield High School’s Student Council will spend the weeks before the event school in preparation for hundreds of trick-or-treaters.

This event, which is one of the biggest community service projects put on by the Student Council, provides a safe, traffic-free, climate controlled indoor trick-or-treating environment for children of all ages. Student Council members decorate the hallways to provide a fun and festive environment for kids and their families. As the trick-or-treaters make their way through the halls, they knock on classroom doors where they are greeted by two Student Council members with candy. At each room, the Student Council members perform some sort of skit or act to entertain the trick-or-treaters. The Student Council representatives in each room are responsible for developing their own theme and skit that and perform each time trick-or-treaters knock on the door.

This year, we expect approximately 500 children to come through the school during the two hour event. Since no admission is charged for the event, the Student Council accepts voluntary monetary donations from parents as they come through the entrance. If you are interested in making a financial contribution to help us continue this event, you may mail a check to: WAHS Student Council, N7046 County M Westfield, WI 53964. All donations go to help offset the cost of decorating supplies and purchasing the vast amount of candy needed each year.

Picture Retake Day Picture Retake Day

Picture Retake Day for Westfield Area High School/Middle School students will take place on Friday, October 18th.

Professional Development Professional Development

As many parents have noticed, our district has built in several inservice days, early release days, and late start days for professional development and to enhance our instructional practices to improve student learning by operating as a Professional Learning Community (PLC). As a PLC, we focus on four questions:

  1. What do we want students to know?
  2. How will we know if they learn it?
  3. What will we do if they do not learn it?
  4. How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?

As a PLC, staff members collaborate to improve student learning by doing the following:

  • Analyze student assessment data to identify an area in need of improvement,
  • Research ways to improve instructional practices in the identified areas
  • Create and implement action plans to improve student learning in the identified areas
  • Assess student performance to determine if the action plans were successful
  • Adjust action plans as needed and share ideas to further improve student learning.

This year, High School/Middle School teachers will be focusing on improving vocabulary instruction to improve student learning. Improved student vocabularies helps students' reading & writing abilities, performance in all classes, and outcomes on state & national exams.
