The Hatter Chatter
District Communications Newsletter

Message from Dr. Eveslage, Superintendent of Schools
Greetings, Hatboro-Horsham Students, Staff, and Families,
As we reach the midpoint of the school year and embark on a new semester, a sense of renewed energy and possibility fills the air. This presents a unique opportunity for all of us – students, families, and teachers alike – to approach the remainder of the academic journey with fresh perspectives and renewed commitment.
Think of this as a clean slate, a chance to build upon the successes of the first half of the year while addressing any challenges that may have arisen. Let us embrace this opportunity to set ambitious but achievable goals, whether it's improving grades, developing new skills, or simply cultivating a more positive learning environment. Let's encourage our students to embrace new challenges and explore their passions, as stepping outside our comfort zones can lead to unexpected growth and discovery.
Let's make this semester not just about academic achievement, but about fostering resilience, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning. Success comes in many forms, and every small step forward contributes to our larger journey. I look forward to witnessing the growth and accomplishments that lie ahead as we work together to make this semester truly exceptional.
Enjoy this February edition of The Hatter Chatter!

History Comes Alive: 7th Graders Explore the American Revolution
During their visit, students explored the museum's captivating exhibits, delving into the complexities of the American Revolution. They encountered firsthand the challenges faced by the colonists, the bravery of the soldiers, and the sacrifices made by countless individuals to forge a new nation.
This experience not only deepened students' understanding of historical events but also fostered a greater appreciation for the principles of democracy and the importance of civic engagement. The field trip served as a valuable supplement to classroom instruction, providing a memorable and impactful learning experience for all participants.
Brushstrokes of Black History
Students at Hatboro-Horsham High School are making a powerful statement with the unveiling of a new mural celebrating Black History. The project, a collaboration between the Black Student Union and the National Art Honor Society, is the first of many planned murals aimed at showcasing the diverse talents and contributions of various affinity groups within the school community.
The vibrant mural, which took months of dedicated work, pays homage to a diverse range of Black artists, from filmmakers and writers to visual artists and musicians. Students meticulously researched and selected individuals whose contributions often go unrecognized. The students aimed to highlight figures who might not be as well-known, to encourage people to learn more about their impact. This mural serves as a testament to the incredible talent and influence of Black artists throughout history.
To enhance the learning experience, QR codes will accompany the mural. These interactive elements provide viewers with access to in-depth information about each featured artist, fostering a deeper understanding of their lives and accomplishments.
This inaugural mural serves as a pilot project for a larger initiative. The school hopes to commission a new mural each year, partnering with a different affinity group to showcase their unique heritage and perspectives. This ongoing project will not only enrich the school's visual landscape but also serve as a valuable educational resource for students and the broader community.
