Oakwood School Families,

Happy last month of 2025 !! Time is moving so quickly- it is hard to believe that we are almost half way through the school year. We are quickly headed toward March and the beginning of the Oakwood renovation project! There will be many altercations to our procedures during this time- please be sure to read all communications coming from the school so that you know these changes and can ask clarification questions if needed. Every change we make will be under the umbrella of keeping everyone safe.

This past week we hosted the Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to all of you!! Your generosity allows us to purchase a large variety of new books for every classroom in our school. This will be the last book fair until our renovated school opens- which will be the Fall of the 2027-28 school year- that seems like a long way off but it will be here before we know it.

Reminders about morning carpool: Supervised carpool begins at 7:30 AM. The first bell rings at 7:40 AM and the second bell rings at 7:45 AM. Students should be in their classrooms by the time the second bell rings. If your student arrives after this time they will be marked tardy. On rainy or really cold days staff will not be going outside. They will be at both back door entrances. Please pull all the way around to allow other parents to pull in as well. This will allow everyone to arrive at school on time and prevent the previously mentioned tardies from happening.

We want to take this opportunity to wish you and all of your families a wonderful holiday season. We look forward to 2026 and all the changes it may bring. :0)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Recently our 2024-25 State Report Card was released and shared with you. We are extremely proud of the hard work and progress the students and staff have achieved. Our rating is the highest you can achieve: Significantly Exceeding Expectations.

There are many different assessments we give throughout the year, all of them are extremely important as they either help us determine next steps or demonstrate our progress.

What can you do to help?

  1. Make sure your child is at school during the assessment windows.

  3. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before an assessment and eats a good breakfast prior to school

Listed below are important upcoming assessment windows:

January 5-16 Early Literacy Screening for all K-3 students

January 12-16 iReady Literacy Testing for 1st-5th grades

Please make sure to send a hat, gloves, boots and snow pants to school with your child. These items should be worn upon arrival to school each day. Students will be outside on the playground before the bell rings at 7:40 each morning and at all recess times. It is also a good idea to pack an extra set of clothing (top, pants, socks, shoes) with your child in the event these items get wet on the playground.

Students will have indoor recess if the temperature is less than 10 degrees or the wind chill is 0 or below.
