Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, REJOICE. Philippians 4:4
Morning Worship and Devotion
Daily Scripture Focus
Each morning we start the day with a time of singing and a word from scripture. Morning devotion time is a time for focus, learning, and putting God first in what we do each day.
The morning devotion is led by Mr. Yearwood most days, but there are also weekly opportunities for students and faculty members to lead.
A Look Back at Last Week
Celebrating with Neighbors
This week we had the opportunity to celebrate with our neighbors from the Margaret Jean Jones Center. On Wednesday they launched the start of an ice cream truck business that the clients will be working. The Margaret Jean Jones Center serves developmentally disabled individuals in Cullman County.
Wednesday's celebration included a fun parade where our elementary students cheered them on and a BBQ sandwich lunch that juniors and seniors helped to serve. We could not be more proud of the students and how they participated in this event for the good of others!
Analyzing and Donating
9th Grade Biology students combined science and service this week! As part of their unit on biomolecules, students held a school-wide food drive and used the donated items in a lab to analyze nutrition labels for carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
Oktoberfest
If you have been through town this week you know that Oktoberfest is underway! We love seeing our CCS students, like Ella pictured here, participating in community events.
For upper school families, traffic in the Depot area was a little tricky! Hopefully everything will return to normal this week!
More Oktoberfest Activities
Our CCS Fair Queen Representative, Emma Grace, was a part of the opening night celebration at Oktoberfest. All Fair Queen contestants competed to be named Miss Oktoberfest.
4th & 5th Grade Skills
4th and 5th graders used a little extra time this week to show off their artistic skills with a fall coloring contest. Congratulations to the winners!
Multiplication
3rd grade students worked on making arrays this week as they learned more about multiplication.
Happy Fall
This week PTF worked to bring a little fall cheer to the upper school. We cannot decorate inside the leased space much, but our back entry door looks great now for morning and afternoon carline! Thank you so much!
Under the Microscope
College Prep and Dual Enrollment Biology students used microscopes this week to compare plant and animal cells by taking a close-up look at cell membranes, nuclei, and basic building blocks of life. These students also investigated how different solutions affect plant and animal cells through a tonicity lab to see the visible effects of hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic environments.
Fair Parade
On Saturday parents, students, and staff gathered to participate in the Cullman County Fair Parade. This is always a fun event! Thank you to everyone who participated, helped decorate floats, donated vehicles, and donated candy!
