Barnes & Noble Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the book fair at Barnes & Noble! We hope you had a fun time and were able to find a new book or two to love! Thank you to all our guest readers and volunteers!
Tawanka was well represented again at the Sunset Challenge and our school won for the most participation in the district! Thank you to everyone who participated! We received a trophy which is now proudly displayed on the stage outside the cafeteria. Check out the photos below!

There was also a tie for the classroom with the most participation: Mrs. Piccinetti and Ms. Pomponio's class both had 50% class participation and won an extra gym class from Mr. Wright! Congratulations!

A big thank you and job well done to Mrs. Millevoi & Mrs. Piccinetti for their hard work on this special project!

Mrs. Tryon

Hi! My name is Mrs. Tryon and I teach third grade here at Tawanka. I have taught 3rd grade for 18 of my 21 years at Neshaminy. I especially love to teach Science and Technology. Helping Mr. Barber with our “Tawanka’s Got Talent” show is one of my highlights of every school year. When I am not at school, I am at home spending time with my husband, two children, and my two dogs.

Math Challenge #15

This was our final Math Challenge of the year! There were 74 students who participated in Math Challenge #15. The classes with the highest participation were: Ms. Wells, Ms. Atwater, Ms. Cromwell, and Ms. Curtin. Congratulations!

Students who completed 10 or more challenges will receive a certificate in June!

Great work, everyone!

Miss Trotta

Kindergarten has been working hard! As a bonus to our Alphabet Count Down, Miss Trotta's class earned Glow Stick Day for G! We had a lot of fun working in class all day using our glow stick necklaces and bracelets! We can't wait to celebrate a different letter each day!

Mrs. Banks

How tall is a Brachiosaurus? We learned a Brachiosaurus is the same height as 12 kids. Mrs. Banks’ class lined up to get a visual of how tall the dinosaur was. That's a REALLY big dinosaur!!!

Mrs. Neff

The children in Mrs. Neff's class grew seeds hydroponically in plastic bags.

After a week we transfer them into soil so they would get the nutrients and sun that they need to grow.

We planted honeydew, flower and green bean seeds. The children were amazed at the way that the seeds sprouted!

Mrs. Reichert

Mrs. Reichert's class is counting down the days until summer with letter F. It was bring your favorite book in. Looks like a lot of good books to read!

Research fun!

First graders in Mrs. Reichert's class are also researching a topic of interest. Over the next two weeks they will be writing an informational text about their topics.

Aye Aye matey

Our first graders had some Pirate themed fun! They did a scavenger hunt, had a show and even got to enjoy a pirate themed snack!! You could hear the laughter throughout the halls!!

Color Challenge

Friday, May 13th was Colorful Day so Ms. Atwater and Ms. Wells’ class completed the ultimate COLOR CHALLENGE!

Red: Can you spell these 3rd grade words?

Orange: Can you follow directions to complete a drawing?

Yellow: Can you use parts of speech to make a mad lib?

Green: How many math problems can you solve in one minute?

Blue: What do you know about 3D shapes? BLOOKET STYLE!

We had a blast completing these challenges and ending our day with a special treat to celebrate our success!

Letter Writing

Ms. Atwater's second graders working hard writing letters to fourth graders in Mr. Blaydon's class! We had lots of questions to ask about what fourth grade is like!

Fun with Fractions

Ms. Atwater's and Ms. Fisher's classes joined together to create fractions using sidewalk chalk!

Plants are blooming

The second graders started a pod on our campus to help with pollen. Here are a few pictures of some of the plants beginning to bloom.

Doe Rae Me

Ms. Fisher's class is having so much fun with Mr. Barber in music class.

Mrs. Millevoi

Students in Mrs. Millevoi's third grade classroom wrote checks from their mock bank accounts to purchase a reward day. Students will eat popcorn and view The One and Only Ivan. Here is a picture of some students with their checks.

Principal Visit

Mr. Hunt & Mr. Sokol visited our 4th grade class to discuss middle school.
It came down to Flying Squirrels vs Space Cowboys and LumberKings vs Roughriders. After a couple of tied games and rescheduling of games, The LumberKings and Flying Squirrels battled it out for the championship. The LumberKings took the W for championship.
