Principal’s Message

February may be a shorter month, but it is filled with meaningful moments at our school. This month, we focus on kindness, respect, and celebrating the connections that make our school community so special. Our students continue to impress us with their compassion, effort, and enthusiasm for learning. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to support every child’s success.

February 2 we will go back to no school on Mondays, and have our 4 day week schedule.

Information will be going home with students for our annual Kids Heart Challenge. Kick off assembly will be Friday February 20th!

Students are encouraged to eat a healthy

breakfast at school.

Breakfast is open when the doors open

from 7:35-7:50.

Cost is $2.15/taken from the food service account.

KG-2nd Grade eat at: 11:25

3-5th Grade eat at: 12:00

Please look in handbook of items not allowed in lunches.

• You can order meals from Nevada Food at First Meals now.
• Deadline is 3:00 p.m. on Monday and/or Thursday.
• Each time you wish to order a meal on Monday and/or Thursday, you have to place the order separately for each day.
• The meals are posted on the Food At First website the week prior to delivery.

The Food Bank is also stocked. It is open in Maxwell from 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. each day. If you want to set up a time to come in, please reach out to the following school personnel:

The Food Bank of Iowa's BackPack Program is designed to increase access to easy-to-prepare, single servings of food to school-age children on weekends when school lunch or breakfast is not offered. The Food Bank of Iowa and Collins-Maxwell Elementary would like to invite your child to participate in this free program.

• Every Friday, Your child will receive a sack
• There is no fee to participate
• Notify the elementary office if interested.
  

Start time is 8am!

School is dismissed at 3:30!

Please follow school handbook & keep everyone healthy.

Flags are posted at the door way, to help remind what a student needs for recess!

Neon Night:

Friday, February 27th from 6:00-7:30pm.

In the Elementary gym

• Water with crystal light packets will be available for sale
• Foam Glow Sticks and Sunglasses will also be available for sale

Please contact the office if you would like a permission form to have your student join our mentoring program.

• Mentors are screened & trained from YSS.
• Teachers & School staff help match appropriate mentors with mentees
• Mentors eat lunch, play games, make crafts during lunch & recess times during school hours.

Please look up your students art work.
