August Monthly Update
Fulton Middle and High School
A Note From the Principal
Dear Fulton Middle and High School Families,
Welcome back! As August arrives, our school comes alive again with the energy, laughter, and anticipation of a fresh academic year. Whether you are returning families or joining our community for the first time, we are thrilled to welcome you to what promises to be an extraordinary year of learning, growth, and connection.
Our teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing classrooms, refining curricula, and creating an inviting environment where every student can thrive. August is a month of new beginnings, a chance to set fresh goals, build new friendships, and embrace new challenges together.
Please take a moment to review this month's newsletter for essential updates on orientation schedules, key calendar dates, and tips for a smooth transition back to routine. Thank you for your continued partnership and supportβwe can't wait to see our students back in the hallways!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Koves

Counselor's Corner with Mr. Woodman
- The only schedule changes available from this point forward are for required classes.
- Be sure to check out this Senior year timeline for applying to post-secondary programs: https://www.saraharberson.com/college-admissions-annual-timeline-2026-2027
- Every senior should know:
- Am I on track to graduate?
- How many credits do I have?
- What requirements do I still need?
- Are there attendance issues that could affect me?
- Tip #1: Get Organized Early
- The start of the school year is the perfect time to get organized! Encourage your student to check their schedule, know their teachers and classrooms, and keep track of important assignments and deadlines. A strong start can make a big difference later in the year. Families can help by asking, βWhat do you have coming up this week?β rather than waiting until there is a problem.
- Tip #2: Ask for Help Early
- Students do not have to wait until they are struggling to reach out. Whether the concern is academic, social, emotional, attendance-related, or related to planning for life after high school, the school counselor is here to help. Asking for help early is a strength, not a sign of failure. Families should encourage students to speak up when something doesn't feel right or when they aren't sure what to do next.

Student Activities Update
Band Camp
The band had a steady week of rehearsal with a basic blocks, drill charting, sectionals, and whole group rehearsals. We learned the whole show in 4 days! (43 total sets over 3 songs). Our 2026 show is titled Decades of Rock with Smoke on the Water, Enter Sandman, and Paint it Black.
We have a new addition of color guard this year, and 3 ladies showed up to make the most of the week. They learned basic routines and drill with the help of their coach throughout the week. They canβt wait to share with the community all that they have learned.
Athletics
Fall sports have kicked off and we are excited to see our Pirate student-athletes compete this year!
All schedules will be kept updated on Eventlink and that calendar is linked on the school website. When you complete your Final Forms registration you should get an email with a link to the Eventlink calendar so you can set up an account there to stay updated on the athletic schedules that you want to.
One thing that is essential to the success of our athletic programs are the volunteers that help out with admissions, concessions, and other various duties throughout the different seasons. We're using Sign-Up (the leading online Sign-Up and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming Sign-Ups.
Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1) Click this link to see our Sign-Up on Sign-Up: https://signup.com/go/ZxSuAeU
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It's Easy - you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on Sign-Up.
Note: Sign-Up does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me and I can sign you up manually.
Thank you and Go Pirates!
Student Wellness
We are continuing to use the MiCares program through Navigate360 for our social skills lessons during seminar every week.
Michigan has adopted a new law requiring school districts to establish policies limiting student use of wireless communication devices during instructional time. The goal is to reduce distractions and help students stay focused on learning. At Fulton Middle/High School, our policy requires students to secure their cell phone in their school-issued Yondr pouch during the school day. Phones should remain secured in the pouch from the beginning of the school day until students are dismissed.
Please remind your student to bring their Yondr pouch to school every day and keep their phone secured inside it.
We appreciate families partnering with us to create a focused learning environment where students can be present, engaged, and successful.
