From Mrs. Jones

πŸŽ…πŸŽ‰ Happy December!

This semester has flown by, and I want to start by bragging on our amazing teachers and students for earning an 87 on the state report card β€” the highest score in the district! πŸ† We are so proud of this accomplishment. I truly believe we can be an A school, and we need your partnership to get there. πŸ’ͺπŸ“š

The state report card is based on growth and proficiency on the ACAP (given in April), as well as attendance. Please encourage your students to give their best effort each day as we prepare for testing in the coming months ✨, and please make sure they are at school consistently. 🏫

πŸ€ Basketball Season

We only have a few more basketball games this season! Come out and support our teams:

  • Dec. 1 – 🏠 Home vs. Greensboro

  • Dec. 2 – 🏠 Home vs. Eastwood

  • Dec. 4 – 🚌 At Robert Brown

  • Dec. 15 – 🚌 At Northridge

  • Dec. 17 – 🏠 Home vs. Westlawn

  • Dec. 18 – 🚌 At Greensboro

πŸ“… Second Quarter Exam Schedule

  • Wednesday, Dec. 17 – ELA & Science βœοΈπŸ”¬

  • Thursday, Dec. 18 – Math & Social Studies βž—πŸ“˜

  • Friday, Dec. 19- Make-Up Exams/ Early Dismissal
**Exams are given during regular class periods; there is no separate bell schedule.

Please make sure your child is not checked in or out during an exam period. 🚫⏰ We will not interrupt an exam for a late arrival, and students who miss their exam time will take a make-up exam on Friday.

πŸ“Š iReady Mid-Year Assessments

Students have begun taking their iReady mid-year assessments. If they meet their growth goals in both reading and math, they will earn a S’more Party next semester! πŸ”₯🍫 Please encourage them to do their bestβ€”this assessment provides valuable data that helps us prepare for state testing.

βŒ› Tardies

According to the DCS Code of Conduct, students receive a discipline referral after three unexcused tardies to school or class. We offered a great deal of grace during first semester, but we must enforce the policy moving forward.
If your child is late to school, please send a written note so the tardy can be excused. πŸ“

Thank you for your continued support and for partnering with us to help every student succeed! 🌟
πŸŽ„β€οΈ Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!
