Register for Kindergarten!

January, 2026

Dear Families,

We are excited to welcome your child to kindergarten in Natick for the 2026–2027 school year! Below are simple steps, timelines, and what to expect as you register and prepare for kindergarten.

Who is eligible

  • Children who turn five on or before August 31, 2026 may enroll in kindergarten.

Registration period: January–March 2026 (New to NPS or new kindergartener)

  1. Review registration information: Visit the NPS Registration page: https://www.natickps.org/page/registration.

  2. Create an enrollment account: Set up a PowerSchool Enrollment account (this is separate from the PowerSchool Parent Portal). Directions are outlined on the website. If you have an older enrollment account but forgot your password, reset it.

  3. Complete the online form: Fill out the New Student Registration form for 2026–2027.

  4. Schedule an in-person appointment: Email registrar@natickps.org to request a 15–20 minute appointment with the Registrar. You will receive a SignupGenius link to pick a time. Interpreter services are available.

Bring these original documents to your appointment (all must be presented together):

  • Birth certificate

  • Parent/guardian photo ID (driver’s license or passport)

  • Proof of residency (one: property tax bill, mortgage statement, signed lease, purchase & sale agreement, Section 8 agreement, or notarized residency affidavit)

  • Proof of occupancy (one utility or billing statement dated within 45 days showing parent name & address)

  • Current physical with immunizations (students may not start school without a 5‑year physical)

  • IEP/504 or custody documents, if applicable
Note: If you cannot bring all required originals at once, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

If you need help completing online registration or need computer access, contact the Registrar.

If your child attends NPS Preschool (Natick High, East, or Ben Hem)

  • You do not need the New Student Registration form. Instead:

    1. Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal: https://natickps.powerschool.com/public (create an account if needed).

    2. Select your preschooler, choose FORMS, and complete the Kindergarten Survey Form and Home Language Survey.

    3. Email the current physical with immunizations to registrar@natickps.org by March 31, 2026.

English Language Learner (ELL) screening

  • Children whose families indicated a language other than English is being or has been used at home on the Language Survey will be assessed to determine if they qualify for English as a Second Language instruction. The Multilingual Learner Department will reach out to families that have a child who qualifies for the assessment and schedule a time to meet.

Orientation and screening timeline

  • March: A Kindergarten orientation video will be emailed to incoming families. Building‑specific meetings will be held in May.

  • April: Kindergarten screening appointments (about 15 minutes) will be scheduled after registration is complete; you will receive a SignupGenius invitation.

  • Friday, May 1, 2026: Incoming students and families are invited to school orientation sessions (times shared in April). Students will visit classrooms and parents will meet school staff.

  • August: Class placements and a welcome letter from your child’s teacher will be emailed before school starts.

Additional notes

  • Natick may request post‑enrollment verification of residency if needed.

  • If your child receives Special Education services but is not currently enrolled in NPS, please follow the “New to NPS” registration steps above.

We look forward to meeting your child and supporting a smooth transition to kindergarten. If you have questions or need assistance at any step, please contact your school’s main office or the Registrar.

Warmly,

Natick Elementary School Principals
