FES Returns to Tree Lighting

FES has been invited to be part of the Francestown Tree Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 4pm-6pm. This will be the first time the kids have sung since 2019! Mrs. Neilssen will be teaching the students a few songs during this week's music rotation. One song will be sung inside following the FES Homeschooler's play. A few more songs will be sung outside around the tree as the tree is being lit. And of course, a special visitor arrives along with the tree lighting. We hope to have as many FES families join us as possible.

Students will be singing: Here Comes Santa, O Christmas Tree, and Rudolph.

Another Wonderful OLL Day!

Thank you so much to all the people that turned out to help last Tuesday. Students had a great time nature journaling, playing hibernating games, roasting marshmallows, and building animal homes.

Mrs. Neilssen's Music Class

Kindergarten and First grade learned about instrument sounds. We read "Polar Bear Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?" and used different instruments for each animal. Mrs. Neilssen even brought in her trumpet and flute to show the students!

Grade 2 learned about musical contour and practiced playing and creating many different music shapes. They discovered how the size of an instrument affects pitch.

Third and Fourth grade practiced rhythms using popsicle sticks. They composed rhythms and played different patterns on instruments.

Kindergarten and First Grade News

Our week of kindergarten and first grade has been wonderful! The boys and girls are continuing to do a great job practicing their centers whether they are about letters, making words, sight words, fluency, numbers to 10, or addition. Students are working really hard on the skill they need. This week, we really focused on our handwriting with our magic c letters. We will finish them up next week. Next week, we will also our library media residency along with P.E. Students will work on comparing different gingerbread man stories.

A Parade of Our Own

On Tuesday, we read the story ‘Balloons Over Broadway’. This is a story and activity that I absolutely love since I grew up in New York! After reading the story, we designed our own parade balloons/floats and had our own little Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The Harris Center Visits Mrs. Doell's Class

Kara Reynolds, from the Harris Center, came to visit this week. Students have been studying the effects of water on the land. They used their knowledge about the different components of soil and erosion to protect a house from a flood. Kara returned three more times so students could refine their plans and engineer better solutions.
