A Message from the School Board of Directors

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the children, families, and taxpayers of the Upper Darby School District. As part of the School Board communication plan, the Board sends monthly updates to the school community. The information included in these briefs is not intended to be complete and does not replace official Board minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Also, the Board meetings are live streamed to the District's Official UDSD Board & Board Committee Meetings YouTube Channel. We welcome you to follow the issues the School Board is considering and to attend meetings to stay informed.

Summer Message from the Board of Directors

We would like to thank every student, parent/guardian, teacher, and staff member for their great efforts this year. While many challenges still lie ahead of us, we feel the district and students have made great progress and are excitedly looking forward to a new school year. We wish you and your families the best. Re-registration for Rising 6th and 9th Grades for the 2023-2024 School Year

The Upper Darby Board of School Directors voted on the re-registration requirements for the 2023-2024 academic year. The Board requires students who are entering sixth (6th) grade and ninth (9th) grade to re-register with the District. We are accepting re-registrations now. Please complete this as soon as possible.

There are three different ways to complete the re-registration process. For whichever method you choose, you are required to submit the completed re-registration form, two (2) proofs of residency and a government issued photo ID. Your two (2) proofs should include (1): a lease, deed, mortgage statement, or Upper Darby tax bill, and (2) a current utility bill. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Central Registration at (610) 352-2400, ext. 2508 or via email at emonaghan@upperdarbysd.org.

In-person: Please go to the Upper Darby School District Office of Central Registration located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA 19026

Via email: Please include your child/ren’s name(s) and date(s) of birth (DOB) in the body of the message and attach the following required documents: completed re-registration form, two (2) proofs of residency, and a photo identification. These documents should be emailed to re-registration@upperdarbysd.org.

Via online: Click HERE (https://www.upperdarbysd.org/Page/9886) for the link to the 2023-2024 Online Student Re-Registration form. Please complete the form in its entirety. You will then email the two (2) proofs of residency and photo identification to re-registration@upperdarbysd.org. Be sure to include in your email your child's name and DOB.

Community Bulletin Board


The Upper Darby School District electronic Community Bulletin Board was developed to keep our families, neighbors and school district stakeholders up to date about community, Township, and County resources, events, activities and information that may be beneficial to our school district community. Library and Auditorium Improvement Contracts - Awarded


The libraries at Upper Darby High School, Beverly Hills Middle School, and Drexel Hill Middle School and the High School Auditorium will be refurbished via contracts with Goldhorn Electrical, Hirschberg Mechanical, and C.M. Eichenlaub for seating. These improvements should be completed by the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Labor Agreements - Approved


The Board ratified contracts with the Transportation Workers Union Local 289, the Upper Darby School Administrators, Technology Workers, and other non-union employees. These contracts provide some significant salary and benefit increases.

Exterior Marquee and Signage Contracts - Awarded

A contract with Martino Signage has been approved for exterior signage, including replacement signage and marquees, for all district-owned elementary and middle schools. This should be complete by October 2023.

Clifton Heights Middle School Project Contracts - Awarded


Contracts for demolition of the property at 201 N. Springfield Road and for the required archeological survey of the entire site for the new middle school were awarded to Gilmore & Associates.

Final Budget - Approved

The Board approved the final 2023-24 annual budget with a 1% tax increase. This takes into account anticipated local, state, and federal funding, and adds seven Reading Specialists, as well as other targeted staffing and facilities needs.
