Updates from the Band

  • Students have just completed auditions for upper bands next year. Next year, we will combine varsity band with a group of the freshman to help fill out each group more evenly. The results have been posted and are viewable below. We were so impressed with the amount of students who prepared and worked hard on their auditions. They should be very proud of themselves.

  • The next BPA meeting will be April 7th at 5:00 pm in the RHS band room. This will take place before incoming parent meetings. Please check your email for any updates regarding this meeting.

Brownie Sundaes Brownie Sundaes

It is time for the band to host the RHS Brownie Sundae Fundraiser! This year we will serve brownies on April 9th during the lunch periods in school. Here's what we need:

  • The Brownies! - About 30 Pans cut 3x5 or smaller (no nuts)
    • If each family brings an 8x8 or 9x9 pan, we will have more than enough to serve.
    • Have students bring them pre-cut in a decided size will be a huge time saver.
    • Brownies can be stored in the Admin office or brought directly to the band room.
  • Spoons and Bowls! 2 of the 300 bowl packs from Sam’s or Costco or equivalent in smaller packs
  • About 3-4 students willing to help during 4th period and 5th period lunch.

This year we will be charging $2 per brownie. To keep things simple, we do not need any sort of toppings. The more brownies that are made, the more we have a chance to profit! The band will receive the majority of the funds raised (minus the ice cream costs from the school). We need all hands on deck in order to fulfill this FUNdraiser. Thank you in advance for your help.

Optimist Jazz Fest

The Optimist Jazz Fest will take place on April 3rd at SDSU in Brookings.

Jazz 2 will perform at 9:00 am

Jazz 1 will perform at 10:00 am

All students will be bused at 7:00 am to campus and return around 3:30 pm. Please plan to either pack a lunch or bring money for the student center. This is the last competition for the jazz band for the year!

Jazz Band Sign-ups 2025

Great news! We will have enough students in our program to create a third jazz band group. This means that Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 will become our competitions groups, while Jazz 3 is our learning ensemble. Auditions will take place mid-April.
