We Are Getting Close!
Fall sports start today! Please join us for our PAC meeting tonight at 6:00 at DMMS. Today we are also welcoming our new teachers to West, and next Monday, all teachers will be back. August 25th is the first day of school for our 9th graders, and on August 26th students in grades 10 - 12 will join us. Don't believe any rumors you have heard about construction interfering with the start of school. We can't wait to see all of our Scarlets back in the building!
We are starting school on time and in person!
While our construction might present some challenges from time to time, we are committed to minimizing their impact. We anticipate occasional construction noise and adjustments to traffic flow. However, we're excited about the upcoming improvements! The construction will primarily occur outside of our core academic zones, and we anticipate minimal disruption to daily classroom activities and learning environments.
Traffic in and out of the parking lot may be challenging at times. The back lot will be reserved for busses and those with a handicapped sign on their vehicle. No other vehicles will be allowed in the back lot for this school year.
We have expanded our front lot to provide staff parking. The original front lot will be available to seniors and some juniors who have purchased a parking permit. The lot to the south of the original front lot will be staff parking. Parent pick up and drop off will happen in the front lot. At the end of the school day, we anticipate the front lot, exiting onto Stoltzman, may get backed up. If you are picking your student up after school, you may want to consider finding a side street to meet your student.
Schedules Are Live!
Students will be able to see their schedule in Infinite Campus beginning Monday, August 11.
Linked below are the schedule change google forms for students to complete if an adjustment is needed. Any request to a student's schedule must be done by completing the google form. If you email your school counselor directly your request will not be processed. In making requests, please remember a few important details. Since the master schedule has been built with all students’ requests in mind, schedule changes are discouraged and will only be approved, pending the availability of space, for the following reasons:
The following are regarded as justifiable reasons for schedule change requests:
1. To correct computer errors.
2. To correct graduation deficiencies.
3. To make necessary changes due to summer school attendance.
4. To resolve scheduling conflicts.
5. To provide for placement in Special Ed. classes or to implement a student's I.E.P.
Schedules WILL NOT be adjusted for the following reasons:
1. Preference for a different teacher.
2. Preference for a different period or term.
3. Preference to be with friends in class.
PAC Meeting - August 11th
Interested in being in athletics or activities? Please attend the PAC meeting (parent athlete coach) at 6:00 tonight. Please note the location is DMMS.
Kick-Off Days
Back to School Kickoff Days will be August 13 and 14 from 8:00 - 3:00. Students and families are asked to park in the front lot and enter through Door 24. For ADA access please park in the back lot and enter through Door 19.
Please proceed to the 3rd Floor Media Center for your student ID, bus pass, school picture, and chromebook checkout. Seniors, you can stop by the 2nd Floor Main Office to pick up a purchased parking pass.
Student picture information is available with the SPX School Portrait Flyer. Again this year you are able to pre-order your school photos prior to Back to School Kickoff Days. Along with Kickoff Days, pictures will also be available during Open House Night. Picture retakes are scheduled for Tuesday, September 16.
To help balance the flow of device checkout lines, we strongly encourage students to pick up their device during their scheduled time in the document linked below. If you are not able to attend during your scheduled time, please come when you can and we will do our best to fit you in.

What If I Can't Make It To Kick-Off Days?
Everything available to students on kick-off days will also be available to students at our Open House on August 20 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. If you are unable to attend kick-off days and open house, please call the office and we can arrange a time for you to pick up the materials you need. Taking school pictures will not be available at other times, but students will be able to have their picture taken on the picture make-up/retake day on September 16.
Senior Parking Permits
New this year we will be using Affinity for seniors to purchase a parking pass. Affinity is the registration system that is used for activities, and if you have a current Affinity account you will use the same account to purchase your parking pass. Seniors can purchase a parking pass through 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 28. Please access Affinity and Online Registration Directions - Parking if assistance is needed.
Junior Parking Lottery
Juniors interested in purchasing a parking permit should complete the Junior Parking Permit Lottery form by 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 28. The lottery for junior parking permits will take place on Friday, August 29.
Work/Study Release Form
Juniors and seniors seeking a work/study release period will need to complete the Work/Study Release form. School staff will review the request and when approved will work with school counselors to incorporate it into the student’s schedule.
Locker Sign Up
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in having a locker for the 2025-2026 school year will need to complete the Locker Sign Up form. Please note that all freshmen are assigned a locker.
School Supplies
Your school supply list will depend on the classes you have. Teachers will provide that information the first week of school. To start the year, it is good practice to bring a notebook, some folders, and pens/pencils. For math courses, it is recommended that a student have a TI-84 calculator.
Open House Night
If you want to take a walk through the school, meet your teachers, find out what school supplies you will need, and hear a little bit more about your classes, this is the night to do it.
For 9th grade families, and any families who are new to West High School, we will have an informational meeting in the auditorium beginning at 6:30pm.
