Recess Para Job Opportunity
Disabled American Veterans Field of Flags fundraiser with Watertown-Mayer
DAV's Field of Flags empowers our community to set up fields of American flags, all to honor local veterans and raise critical funds to support our ill and injured heroes.
Each flag in the Field of Flags honors a different hero. Behind each flag is a unique story — a story about courage and freedom. A story about sacrifice. A story worth honoring.
Cybersecurity Awareness Month - Online Safety Tips for Families
Top Tips:
Use Strong Passwords: Create passwords that are a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using easily guessable information like birthdays or simple words and do not use the same password for all of your accounts.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication: For added security, use two-factor authentication on your accounts whenever possible. This adds an extra layer of protection beyond just a password.
Keep Software Updated: Ensure all devices have the latest software updates to protect against security vulnerabilities.
Be Cautious with Links and Attachments: Be wary of clicking on links or opening attachments from unknown sources.
Monitor Online Activity: Regularly check your child's online activity to ensure they're visiting safe sites and engaging in appropriate online behavior.
Educate About Phishing: Teach your child how to recognize phishing attempts—fraudulent messages that try to trick them into revealing personal information. If something feels off about an email or message, it’s better to delete it or ask an adult for help.
Limit Screen Time: Encourage balanced screen time and make sure your child takes breaks from being online. Overuse of devices can not only lead to physical issues but can also increase exposure to online risks.
Use Parental Controls: Utilize parental control features on devices and apps to monitor and limit what your child can access online. This can help protect them from inappropriate content and online predators.
Discuss the Importance of Privacy: Make sure your child understands the importance of keeping personal information private. This includes not sharing their location, phone number, or other identifying details with strangers online.
Set a Good Example: Model good cybersecurity habits yourself, such as using strong passwords, being cautious with links, and staying informed about online risks. Children are more likely to follow safe practices if they see their parents doing the same.
Additional Resources are available on our district website: Technology Resources for Parents & Students
Keeping our students safe online is a shared responsibility. By following these tips and discussing them with your child, we can work together to ensure a secure online environment for everyone.
