Way to inspire Mr. Mullarkey! - Plato Academy St. Petersburg
I just wanted to let you know that you may have sparked a wonderful writing interest in Giordy! He had so much fun writing that Christmas story and we had him read it to us and he talked through his ideas and wow! I was so impressed with his story! We had him read it to all of us a few times because it was so good! I said wow Giordy you may have found your talent because this is such a detailed story! I filmed him reading it and he was full of energy and such enthusiasm ! We loved it! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Perhaps he will become a childhood author!
Thank you for choosing to share kindness and uplift the Plato Family!
MyON Reading Challenge
Unleashing the Joy of Reading
From December 23, 2023, to January 7, 2024, Kindergarten through 8th grade students are encouraged to dive into the captivating world of books and embark on a reading adventure during their holiday break.
All students are invited to participate in this literary journey, aiming to read as much as possible during the designated challenge period. Whether they prefer whimsical tales, thrilling adventures, or informative non-fiction, this is the perfect opportunity for students to explore diverse genres and discover the joy of reading.
Winners and Prizes
To add an extra layer of excitement, students who read a minimum of 200 minutes on the myON platform during the challenge period will have the chance to win prizes. The ten winners will be randomly selected and announced during the week of January 15, 2024. The prizes include a brand-new laptop, cozy reading socks, and a stylish water tumbler, creating an incentive for students to engage in the reading challenge.
How to Participate
Participating in the Winter Holiday Break Reading Challenge is simple. Students can immerse themselves in books available on the myON platform, and the time spent reading will be automatically recorded within the system. For those who choose to read offline, a friendly reminder is to log back into myON with WiFi before January 7. This ensures that their reading activity is captured in their accounts, making them eligible for the exciting prize drawing.
Encouraging a Love for Reading
This reading challenge not only offers a chance to win prizes but also serves as a wonderful opportunity to foster a lifelong love for reading. By exploring new stories, characters, and ideas, students can enhance their literacy skills, broaden their imaginations, and discover the endless possibilities that come with a good book.
The Winter Holiday Break Reading Challenge promises not only entertainment and prizes but also a celebration of the joy found within the pages of a good book. Happy reading!
Wrapping Up the Year in Style
From English to Greek and the beautiful sign language, Plato Clearwater students sing the carols and transcend barriers, spreading the festive spirit in every form!
Plato Students Singing Carols at the Consulate General of Greece in Tampa
Consul General Loukas Tsokos, along with his wife, Evi, warmly greeted the students, their teachers, and additional representatives from the Academy. Among the attendees were Giorgos Antonaklas, a member of the school's Board of Directors, music teacher Tom Piggott, and Greek teachers Christina Vitous and Angela Bournous.
Promoting a worldwide outlook and selflessness, Ms. Vitous in her speech called on everyone to add a special touch to this Christmas by showing kindness to those less fortunate. She concluded her address by expressing sincere wishes for joy, peace, and love, sentiments that resonated among the teachers and students in attendance.
Consul General Tsokos conveyed his delight and emotions when interacting with students from charter schools with a Greek focus, praising their exceptional performance. He emphasized the significance of backing these schools and reiterated the necessity for more charter schools dedicated to teaching the Greek language.
Plato Academy Schools Character Education Program
Character education is a program aimed at cultivating positive character qualities in students. The primary objective is to establish a school culture that is immersed in attributes like respect, responsibility, honesty, and self-motivation. This emphasis on character traits is intended to enhance student achievement and create a secure learning environment.
In the Commitment to Character program, a fixed curriculum is not used. Instead, a range of strategies is offered to be seamlessly integrated into the regular curriculum. This approach is marked by a deliberate and conscious emphasis on character education. The program employs various methods including a shared vocabulary (common language such as using the same character traits), seizing spontaneous teaching moments (teachable moments), engaging in community service activities (service learning), and setting examples through behavior (modeling). These strategies are applied across all subjects, ensuring that character education is woven into every facet of the curriculum.

Computer Accidents? Get Coverage Today & Peace of Mind for the School Year!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide the best resources and curriculum for your child's educational environment, we are requiring an annual Technology Fee.
In today's digital age, technology plays an integral role in education, enabling your child to explore, create, and learn in innovative ways. To ensure that this learning experience remains uninterrupted, we are implementing a nominal fee of $25 per student to cover potential damages to the school-issued laptops. This fee will be used exclusively for repairing or replacing damaged hardware, guaranteeing that your child's education continues seamlessly.
This fee ensures seamless replacement of damaged laptops to our students when devices need repair from wear and tear (keys falling off or mousepad not working) or accidental damage (closing screen on pencils, dropping) to the device. Until now, parents were asked to cover the costs of these damages as they occurred.
Parents who do not submit their Technology Fee will be responsible for covering the potentially much higher costs of hardware repair replacement in the event of damage. We strongly recommend opting for this coverage to avoid any undue financial strain in case of accidental damage to the laptop.
To enroll in the program, please fill out the following payment form and submit the $25 (non refundable) for the current school year. Your proactive participation will contribute to a worry-free and productive learning experience for your child.
We appreciate your continued support in creating a nurturing educational environment for our students. Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out to your campus administration.
Thank you for entrusting Plato Academy Schools with your child's education.

Hermes & the Tales of Zephyrus
"...Hermes is the namesake of Hermes the Trismegistus, as the ancient Greeks called the Egyptian god Thoth, who was the inspirer of the arts and sciences, but also a writer.
Until about five years ago, he too lived among an anonymous crowd. But by a quirk of fate, or a fateful choice, or a fateful end because of by fate or fateful coincidence, he suddenly found himself in the disputed mythical world and he took up the duties of a steward in Aeolia and specifically in the palace of Zephyros who is the west wind and mediator between Hades and humans........"
