Prevention - Focused Programs - Action Required

Objective of the Message: To inform principals of House Bill 166, section 3313.6024, requirements for Ohio Schools.

Core Message: House Bill 166, Section 3313.6024 requires districts to report annually to the department of education, “the types of prevention-focused programs, services, and supports used to assist students in developing the knowledge and skills to engage in healthy behaviors and decision-making and to increase their awareness of the dangers and consequences of risky behaviors, including substance abuse, suicide, bullying, and other harmful behaviors.” This information is being collected through an online survey administered by ODE.

ODE is requiring all principals to oversee the completion of a Prevention Services Survey for their school. The online survey must be completed by December 4, 2020 at the close of business. The questionnaire focuses on the 2019-2020 school year.

Procedure:

1. Principals, click here to access the secured site to complete the online survey.

2. Click and download the “Prevention Services Survey Instructions” from the secured site before you begin the survey.

3. Scroll down the webpage and click “Create Report” next to your school’s name and follow the prompts.

4. Complete the survey no later than December 4, 2020 at the close of business.

These meetings are mandatory for Support Specialists and attendance will be recorded based on the Training Exit Ticket. Principals/Administrators are copied as a courtesy but not required to attend.

Access to CPS Google documents require using your CPS Email.

All buildings should have received a list of students that are missing the US School Entry Dates on the ELL page of Powerschool. These fields should be updated as soon as possible and all new enrollments should have this data answered upon entry of their PowerSchool record.

• ELL race data not being updated. Over 600 ell's have incomplete race data on the special demographics page.

1. Upon enrollment, students with disabilities must be referred to the school case coordinator.
2. Updating instructional code for students with disabilities. To be shared in the November 30, 2020 EMIS Virtual training.

• Please be sure all Seniors have the correct Local Attendance Pattern on the FD tab.
  

• If a student transfers to you, be sure to check their Local Attendance Pattern on the FD tab

For EMIS Use - Ohio. If their previous attendance pattern was different than yours, you will need to create an FD history in addition to the new history on the FS tab. If the attendance pattern is not different from the sending school, DO NOT create a history.

• For all students entering ninth grade for the first time this school year, the following field on the FN tab must be updated to show 2021. If there are any Students without the accurate year represented please contact EMIS - emis@cps-k12.org
• This field is what sets the graduation cohort year for the student and it is imperative that it is accurately reported this fiscal year.

• Sign In not required; your Google Meet log in is automatically recorded upon entry.
• Log in 15 minutes prior to your meeting start time in order to troubleshoot any connectivity issues.
• Mute microphone once meeting begins including attendees by phone.
  
• Share questions/comments via the chat and the EMIS Team will respond accordingly.
  
• Attendance and LaunchEd credit contact hours are based on attendance captured in the Exit Ticket (Sign Out with your CPS Email) that will be provided at the end of each training.
