FROM THE BOOSTER CLUB
JAG: JOBS FOR AMERICA'S GRADUATES
We are looking for Guest Speakers for our high school JAG class. Mrs. Hansen has created a google form in hopes to get some of our community members and parents into the classroom to help teach our students the different jobs and occupations available! If you are interested please fill out the google form linked to the picture attached.
FROM THE OFFICE:
CHECKING IN & OUT OF SCHOOL
When students arrive late to school, they must stop at the front office to sign in before going to class. Likewise, if a student needs to leave school early, they are required to sign out at the office before departing.
All visitors and parents must also check in and out at the front desk upon entering and leaving the building. This process helps us maintain accurate records and ensures a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.
NO SCHOOL
POWERSCHOOL PARENT ACCOUNT
PowerSchool is the main tool our district uses to keep families connected to their child’s education. Having a PowerSchool account allows parents and guardians to:
Stay informed about grades and progress – Check assignments, grades, and overall performance in real time.
Monitor attendance – See if your child is in class each day and track attendance trends.
Receive important updates – Get communication from the school about schedules, attendance, and lunch balances
- Support your child’s success – By staying up to date, you can step in quickly if your child needs extra help or encouragement.
A PowerSchool account is one of the best ways to stay engaged in your child’s learning and ensure a strong home–school partnership.
If you need assistance setting up your PowerSchool Account, please reach out to Mrs. Sarah Sass in the high school office.
CANVAS OBSERVER ACCOUNT
A Canvas Observer account allows parents and guardians to stay connected to their child’s learning in our online system. With an Observer account, you can:
View assignments and due dates – See what your student is working on and when tasks are due.
Check grades and feedback – Stay up to date on progress and teacher comments for most classes.
Monitor course materials – Access class announcements, resources, and calendars.
- Support your student – Use the information you see to help your child stay organized, meet deadlines, and reach out for help when needed.
While Observers don’t complete work or submit assignments, this account gives parents a window into the classroom and helps foster communication between school and home.
If you would like to setup a Canvas Observer Account for your child, please reach out to Mrs. Headid.
ACT PREP
To support student success, all sophomores, juniors, and seniors have access to John Baylor’s OnToCollege ACT Prep, a proven program designed to help students boost their ACT and PreACT scores while building confidence and test-taking skills. This resource provides engaging lessons, practice tests, and strategies to maximize performance.

AVEL NURSE - SCHOOL HEALTH
Avel School Health Nurse Program
Our school participates in the Avel School Health Nurse Program, which helps us provide quick access to healthcare during the school day.
How it works: If a student isn’t feeling well, they can visit with a registered nurse virtually through an iPad.
What the nurse does: The nurse will assess your child’s symptoms and make recommendations for care.
- Parent communication: If the nurse feels your child should go home, you will receive a phone call directly from the nurse to discuss next steps. Please note: the call will come from 605-606-0550, which is not a school number. We encourage you to save this number in your contacts for easy recognition.
This program helps ensure that students get timely medical attention while at school and gives parents peace of mind knowing a licensed nurse is available when needed.
For questions about this service, please contact Mrs. Shaylee Siems at the high school office.
SAFE DRIVING REMINDER: PROTECT OUR STUDENTS
As a community, it’s important that we all do our part to keep Cedar Bluffs students safe. Recently, there have been reports of drivers — both students and adults — speeding or driving erratically near the school, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.
Please remember:
-
Slow down when approaching school zones and crosswalks.
-
Stay alert for students crossing the street, especially during busy morning and afternoon hours.
-
Avoid distractions such as phones while driving near campus.
-
Be patient — a few extra minutes of caution can prevent serious accidents.
Our students’ safety is worth every precaution. Let’s work together to make the area around our school safe for everyone.
