🚌 Transportation Q and A 🚌 Transportation Q and A

Where will students who live in Monroe get on buses to go to Prairie City?
  • PCM is currently working with the city of Monroe to finalize bus stop locations for the upcoming school year.
  • Students will be assigned to a bus stop based on their address. Your bus stop location can be found in your Infinite Campus profile once assigned. We will send an email letting you know when this information will be available.

  • If you need to have your child picked up at an alternate location due to childcare or other before/after school arrangements, please contact the building secretary. Please do not request changes until stops have been assigned.

Will students who live in Monroe have time to eat breakfast at school if they ride the bus?

Yes! They will be able to eat breakfast at school once they arrive. Please note that breakfast fees apply unless families qualify for free or reduced meals.

Is there a shuttle bus that will take students who live in Prairie City to PCM High School?

Yes. We will still run a high school shuttle to and from Prairie City to Monroe. The bus stop is in the north parking lot of the Prairie City building.

How will the district know what transportation my student will need?

During registration, you will be asked if your student will require district transportation Here is what you’ll see:

PCM offers three transportation services:
  • Route Bus (for students living outside city limits within the district)
  • Monroe Pickup Stop (for students living within Monroe city limits who attend school in Prairie City)
  • High School Transfer (for students needing transportation from Prairie City to PCM High School in Monroe)
Please answer yes or no depending on your needs.

Can I take my child to any bus pickup location in Monroe?
No. Since these buses are considered route buses, the district has set routes based on bus capacity.

If you need to make alternate arrangements due to daycare or other before/after school arrangements, please contact your building secretary.

Will there be crossing guards?

No. The district has designated multiple locations in Monroe so students will have access to a bus stop that does not involve crossing a highway.

I see buses go in and out of the high school. Can I drop off my child there?

No. The high school is not a shuttle bus stop. Buses entering and exiting the parking lot are meant for high school students only. They will not pick up students to transport them to another school.

What happens if my child is late to their stop and misses the bus?

Because students are expected to be at their stop by the designated pick-up time, it is your responsibility to get them to school if they miss a bus.

Are the bus stops supervised?

We will not have staff supervising the bus stops. Students are expected to demonstrate respectful, responsible, and safe behavior while waiting for the bus.

πŸ•• 5th Grade Daily Schedule: Basic Information πŸ•• 5th Grade Daily Schedule: Basic Information

Since 5th graders will now be middle school students, they will have middle school schedules. Their schedules will look much the same as the 5th graders in the 25-26 school year. Each student will have their own unique schedule and will rotate through their classes with different students. The classes they will have will be:

  • Content English Language Arts
  • Foundational English Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Math
  • Science Exploratory
  • PE–Art–Study Hall Rotation
  • Band–Choir–Study Hall Rotation

Fifth graders will also have an exploratory class, one per quarter for a total of four by the end of the school year. These classes include: health, computer science, and two more that are undecided as of right now.

πŸ₯— 🍎 Food Service πŸ₯— 🍎 Food Service

5th Grade Food Service Information

Fifth graders will have the same breakfast and lunch routines as the other middle school students. They will serve themselves some of the options and will be able to choose between entree options on some days or purchase a second entree. They will also be able to purchase a la carte items (bottled water, 100% juice, baked chips, rice krispies bar, etc.) at an additional charge. Parents: please have a conversation with your child about your expectations regarding a la carte and additional entree purchases since these charges can deplete food service accounts quickly. Students must have money in their account to purchase a la carte items and second entrees.

Breakfast service begins at 7:40 a.m. Lunch times will vary depending on a student's daily schedule. You can view our monthly lunch menu here.

πŸš— PCM Elementary and Middle School Campus Pick-Up and Drop-Off Locations πŸš— PCM Elementary and Middle School Campus Pick-Up and Drop-Off Locations

Please use the south parking lot when dropping off or picking up your child. The north parking lot is designated for buses before and after school so we ask that families avoid that area for the safety of students and staff.

😎 Preschool Playground 😎 Preschool Playground

This summer, we're installed a new playground for our preschoolers! It is located in the green space by the event entrance on the south side of the building.

🀝 Parent/Teacher Conferences 🀝 Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for October 13 and 15 and March 9 and 11. Sign up geniuses will be sent prior to each conference so families can sign up for specific times. We understand that parking may be an issue so we may need to handle conferences a bit differently than we have in the past. Please watch for more information this fall.
