PTO Meeting Recap
Last Thursday, we held our final PTO meeting of the school year where we voted on the 2026-27 PTO board slate and budget, followed by a PTO Appreciation Party! A huge thank you to Ms. Harambe, Ms. Finley, Dr. Williams, Ms. Ida, and Ms. Nikki for hosting a lovely dinner. Here are the slides from the meeting. If you have any questions about next school year's board slate or budget, please email president@monterapto.com.
We have less than two weeks left of school, time has flown by! We want to send a massive THANK YOU to all of our Montera families. Whether you volunteered at events, donated snacks, chaperoned dances and field trips, helped on campus, attended PTO meetings, supported fundraisers, or simply survived the organized chaos of middle school alongside your students, we appreciate you so much.
Thank you for being part of what makes Montera such a special community. Go Toros!!

Montera Sports
Montera Spring Sports Update – Go Toros!
As another incredible year of Montera athletics nears a close, we want to recognize the hard work, dedication, and success of all of our student-athletes, coaches, and families this spring season!
Boys Futsal
The Boys Futsal season concluded this past weekend. Although the team did not make the playoffs, this young squad — made up entirely of 6th graders — competed every weekend against mostly 7th and 8th grade teams. They represented Montera with effort, toughness, and pride throughout the season.Girls Futsal
The OAL postseason schedule for Girls Futsal has not officially been finalized yet, but playoff action is expected next Saturday, May 23 at Lockwood STEAM Academy. The Yellow Team didn't make the playoffs but that does not fully reflect the effort, growth, and resilience this group showed throughout the season. The team continued to compete hard each week, supported one another, and gained valuable experience that will help build the future of Montera Girls Futsal.
The Black Team finished an impressive 4-1 and is expected to qualify for the playoffs next Saturday!
The OAL has announced the playoff format:
Quarterfinals – 9 AM & 10 AM
Semifinals – 11 AM & 12 PM
Championship Final – 1 PM
All matches will take place at Lockwood STEAM Academy. Official matchups and game assignments will be announced once finalized by the league.
Boys Volleyball
Varsity Boys Volleyball battled hard all season and fell in Round 2 of the playoffs.
JV Boys Volleyball finished the season 3-1 and showed tremendous growth throughout the year. Their final victory against Edna Brewer came with only five players available — an incredible display of resilience and determination. Even with this disadvantage against a full Edna Brewer team, we won both games. Their only loss in the season came via forfeit due to low numbers. We are incredibly proud of these 6th grade boys. JV playoffs take place this Saturday.
Great job, Toros Volleyball!
Ultimate Frisbee
Toros Ultimate Frisbee completed an incredible second season with over 30 student-athletes and a strong mix of boys and girls that distinguished our program across the East Bay.Our Open Team placed 3rd at both the Spaghetti Western Tournament and the NCAL Championships. Meanwhile, our first-ever Girls Team made history by winning the inaugural NCAL Girls Ultimate Championship on May 16!
One of the core values of Ultimate is “Spirit of the Game,” and our players represented Montera with sportsmanship, competitiveness, and pride all season long.
We also want to recognize our first graduating class of 8th graders from the program:
Noelani, Maya, Simon, and Kyler — thank you for helping build this program from the ground up. Best of luck in high school, and keep playing Ultimate! With most of the roster returning next year, the future is bright for Toros Ultimate in 2027.
Wrestling
Montera Wrestling concluded its season at the League Finals at Oakland High School with an outstanding performance:4 Gold Medals
3 Silver Medals
2 Third-Place Finishes
It has been a privilege to support and coach such hardworking student-athletes. The future is extremely bright for Montera Wrestling.
Season Award Winners:
Juan Roldan – MVP
Anthony Chen – Rookie of the Year
Rosemarie Montano – Most Coachable
Violet Choi – Most Improved

Attendance Reminders
California funds schools through Average Daily Attendance (ADA). This means that every day or period a student is absent or tardy, our school loses funding. Unexcused absences cost our school thousands of dollars each school year. Every minute counts!
Reminders:
AVOID picking up students during lunch - loud speaker announcements during lunch disrupt classes in session.
AVOID picking up students 20-30 minutes before the dismissal bell. This allows students to finish their school day without disruption.
Dismissal is at 1:50 pm on Wednesdays and 3:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Remember, school starts at 9:15! Please help your student arrive on time each day and reinforce the importance of showing up to 3rd & 7th period after lunch!
Any absence not verified by phone or email is marked “Unverified” and is considered unexcused.
If you know that your student is going to be absent, please call the main office at 510-879-3211 x1.
If your family is experiencing challenges with daily attendance, we are here to support you. Contact your grade-level principal or Ms. Ida at the number above for assistance.
