Today is School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! We're so grateful for Officer Cam and Officer Fred for helping keep us all safe. If you see them, tell them thank you!

Give someone the joy of knowing they are appreciated. We're launching a brand new program designed to recognize Webster Groves School District employees, citizens, residents or community volunteers. The deadline to submit a nomination is March 1, 2023.
A WGSD Inspires Award recipient is someone who:

- demonstrates consistent leadership and exceptional performance
- motivates and inspires others
- goes far beyond what is expected in their role
- exemplifies the ideals of their role
- is an active and positive role model
- has vision beyond the immediate
- has provided extraordinary service to the WGSD community
All nominees will be recognized and winners will be recognized at our annual recognition reception on Tuesday, May 9.
The nomination form and more information about the WGSD Inspires Award can be found here.
Our People | WGSD Cares
Today we are happy to profile someone who has served the district for a long time! Michelynn Hunter is the custodial supervisor at Hixson Middle School. She has been with WGSD since 2006, long before the kids who currently attend Hixson were even born.
Dr. Sandy WIley Skinner says that, "Michelynn embodies hard work, dedication and commitment. She is fully committed to her work and it shows in her building. Through construction and changes at Hixson, Michelynn was a strong advocate for the school and needs of her team. She smiles as you talk with her and always speaks highly of her team. Michelynn is definitely a wonderful asset to the Hixson and WGSD family."
Michelynn echoes what Sandy says and said she "loves working at Hixson." She said the most challenging part of her job is "being short staffed like the rest of the world." Today we want to thank Michelynn for her dedication to WGSD and for being a leader of her team, not to mention the positive attitude she has. If you happen to be at Hixson and see Michelynn, be sure to say hello. We are lucky to have her in WGSD!
Do you know someone who deserves recognition? We would love to profile them in our newsletter and give them our WGSD Cares pin. Nominate them here!

WGHS student flourishes in SSD program
Learn more about the SSD Cosmetology Program! This is an exclusive high school program offering the same curriculum as a beauty college without tuition costs.
All aspects of cosmetology including all hair, nail, and skincare services are included. Students learn in a full-service salon along with classroom instruction from licensed Cosmetologists.
Excellent Teaching and Learning
Over the next few months, we will be highlighting each goal in our strategic plan. Goal 1 is Excellent Teaching and Learning.
Learning is central to all that we do as an organization. It is essential that WGSD works to provide each student with an educational environment in which they can flourish and compete in the global workplace.
Students must be engaged in curricular experiences that are relevant, challenging and reflective of them and those around them. Given the complex task of creating such experiences for each student, it is essential that the district curriculum, practices and programs are continuously reviewed and refined to reflect the needs of students and an ever-changing world.
