HTHS Cheerleaders win Nationals!!
Congratulations to the Competition Cheerleaders! They won Trussville City Schools’ first ever National Championship at UCA’s National School Cheerleading Championship. They competed in the very difficult Super Varsity Traditional Routine division and advanced from semi-finals to finals in first place. They performed a strong routine two days in a row, earning the National Championship. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to their sport!
National Resource Officers Appreciation Day!
Sunday, February 15, is National Resource Officers Appreciation Day. Since it is over the weekend, we are celebrating our SROs today. Here at Hewitt-Trussville High School we are thankful for the work of CPL Scotty Bates, Officer Donald Taylor, and Officer Jamie Goolsby! These gentlemen ensure the daily safety and security of our campus. Please join us in showing your appreciation!
National Honor Society Invitations
Students should have received invitations to join the National Honor Society today during 1st or 2nd period as long as they meet our school's eligibility requirements of a 3.75 weighted GPA or higher. The acceptance form and their dues must be returned to Mrs. Massey in the library by February 27th for them to be inducted. We will not be able to accept anything after that date. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Laura Massey (laura.massey@tcsk12.us).

Mock ACT Results Available Soon
9th–10th Grade Students: Scores can be accessed on Progress Learning by clicking on Graded Assignments and viewing the Score Report. For step-by-step guidance, students can reference the screenshots provided in Help Accessing Mock ACT Results (9–10).
11th Grade Students: Student score reports will be distributed in their English classrooms by Friday, February 13th.
What do the scores mean?
ACT benchmarks show whether a student is on track to be successful in college-level courses. Meeting a benchmark means the student has a 50% chance of earning a B or higher and a 75% chance of earning a C or higher in that subject area in college.
Here’s what each section measures:
English (Benchmark: 18) – Assesses grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetoric. Meeting the benchmark suggests a student is ready for college English Composition.
Math (Benchmark: 22) – Measures algebra, geometry, and basic trigonometry skills. Meeting the benchmark indicates readiness for college Algebra.
Reading (Benchmark: 22) – Tests reading comprehension and the ability to understand complex texts. Meeting the benchmark shows readiness for college-level social science courses.
Science (Benchmark: 23) – Evaluates interpretation of data, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving. Meeting the benchmark reflects readiness for college Biology.
Important Note: ACT benchmarks are based on graduating seniors, so it’s normal for 9th–11th graders to still be working toward these goals. Students who have not yet met a benchmark can use their Mock ACT data to identify areas for improvement and focus their study efforts before the official ACT.
