Welcome Back GMS!
Back to School Basics
Dear Garfield Students, Families, and Staff,
The start of a new school year is always filled with excitement, fresh opportunities, and new beginnings. On behalf of our entire Garfield Middle School staff, welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to welcome back our returning students and extend a special welcome to those who are joining the Garfield family for the first time.
At Garfield Middle School, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow. Middle school is a time of discovery, new friendships, and increased independence, and we look forward to helping every student develop the skills and confidence they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom.
To help your family prepare for the first day of school, we've included important information and helpful resources below. Please take a few moments to review everything together so your student feels confident and ready for a successful start.
Throughout the year, we will continue to share important updates, celebrations, and reminders through the Garfield Gazette, our monthly family newsletter. We encourage you to watch for these communications and stay connected with all that's happening at Garfield.
Thank you for your partnership and support. Together, we will make the 2026–2027 school year one filled with meaningful learning, lasting memories, and opportunities for every student to thrive.
We hope you enjoy these final days of summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on August 24th!

Annual Update
Please complete as soon as possible!
Before the start of each school year, all families are asked to log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and complete annual updates for each of their students. This process allows parents/guardians to review and update important information, including emergency contacts, medical information, household details, and required permissions. Keeping this information current helps Lakewood City Schools communicate with your family and provide the best support for your student throughout the school year.
Please complete your annual updates as soon as possible to ensure your student's records are accurate.

Important New Features Available in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal
