Juniors and Seniors,

We are reaching out to you regarding a new mentorship opportunity with college students at Miami University.

A group of students at Miami University are starting a mentorship club connecting Talawanda High School students with current college students. If you have any questions about a certain major, life after high school, or you just want someone to talk to who has been through the college application process these Miami students would love to be a resource to you.

They will be coming during Tutorial Period every other Friday, so you won't have to stay after school to participate. Before these Miami students can start coming in, they need to gauge your interest. If this is something that you would be interested in, we would love for you to fill out the form below.

Health Education Curriculum Update - SB 288-Erin's Law

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW), formally called the Ohio Department of Education, has shared with public schools across the state Senate Bill 288. This legislation requires that health education curricula be updated to include (K-12/developmentally appropriate) prevention education information in the areas of sexual abuse and sexual violence for students in public schools.

As promised, the district is providing an opportunity for families to review the curriculum, and parents may opt their students out of the lessons if they choose. For more information from the Ohio Department of Education- Click HERE.

Instruction occurs annually. This year the district will conduct these updates with students October 12-26, 2026.

TSD One Plan Family Engagement

We invite and encourage our families to review the TSD One Plan linked to our website. Talawanda is in year one of our current One Plan. Additional information about the One Plan can be found on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, linked here.

If you have feedback to share or would like to be part of the parent/community advisory group for our One Plan, please contact Ms. Stephanie Aerni, Director of Teaching & Learning (AerniS@talawanda.org). There will also be a feedback session on 11/19/26 ahead of the School Board Meeting at the THS Performing Art Center.
