MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Franklin Community,
Tuesday marks the first day of National Latinx/e Heritage Month. There will be events and celebrations across Oregon for us to participate in all month. Les deseo muchas felicidades a todos los estudiantes y familias Latinas de nuestra comunidad de Franklin.
As our athletic fall season is underway, I’d like to share some PIL policy reminders.
No Backpack Policy: At no time are backpacks allowed inside the facility while attending events on PPS property. We do not offer a bag check. Leave them at home or in your car.
Outside Food: No outside food or drink is allowed at our athletic contests. Some sites will have concession stands open for food purchases.
No Re-Entry: Once a person enters the game, we are not allowing anyone to leave the event and return. This policy is for both students and adults.
Click here for more information about the PIL, such as athlete of the week and league standings. The PIL Athlete of the Week is Franklin volleyball player Lowe Lichtenfels! Congratulations Lowe and Go Lightning!
Have a great week!

SCHOOL INFORMATION
Site Council Needs You!
Franklin Site Council is a group of parents, community members, students, and staff who meet to help inform and shape school planning. Meetings typically take place virtually once a month, on the second Monday from 4:30–5:30 pm.
We are looking for staff, students, and community members who are interested in joining the committee. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, please reach out to the principal: znaegele@pps.net or the business manager: sharvey@pps.net. Thanks so much!
Club Creation Time!
Do you want to start or continue a club at Franklin?
Club Creation Forms are available in the SUN Office SS-110.
PPS Rightsizing Community Engagement
As Portland Public Schools continues the rightsizing process, we are committed to creating multiple ways for our community to learn, ask questions, share perspectives and be heard.
Between September and December 2026, PPS will offer several types of engagement opportunities, including formal Public Listening Sessions with the Board of Education, informal Community Connections with select Board Directors, and dedicated Community Voice engagements for communities of color and families of students receiving special education services. Each opportunity may look a little different, but they share a common purpose: creating meaningful ways for community voices and experiences to inform the process.
We encourage all families to take a moment to read about the various community engagement opportunities and to find one or more that best meets your needs.
You can learn more and RSVP here.
Do You Need a Locker?
Any student who wishes to have a locker can request one in the main office. No students have been automatically assigned a locker this year.
