Principal's Weekly Update

Principal'sWeekly Update

A Message from Dr. Nadjarian

Dear Families,

It has been an eventful week as we prepare for Easter! A huge thank you to the Daughters of Saint Paul who volunteered their time to host our Easter Book Fair. We cannot wait to read our new books!

Today, we came together as a school in preparation of the Easter Weekend! Father Jonathan explained the beautiful tradition of Morning prayer which marked the beginning of the Easter Triduum. The Easter Triduum is a time in the year where the church remembers the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

On behalf Father Jonathan and the faculty and staff, we wish you all a wonderful Easter Weekend and we look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday!

A Message from Nurse Catherine

I am happy to report we have 0 Covid-19 cases to report this week.

Seasonal allergies: Please make sure your student receives their seasonal allergy medication before coming to school. The non-drowsy type is best for the school day. Zyrtec or Claritin work well. You can also ask your student's doctor for a recommendation.

Have a great Easter break!

A Message from Dan Griffin, Director of Advancement

We did it! As of this morning, we have raised $5,000 to meet the $5,000 match. The 2023 Lenten Appeal has raised over $18,000 for the Fund for St. Mary's. We are so grateful for your generosity and commitment to our school. And we are so thrilled to continue to improve upon the whole child experience here at St. Mary's! If you are interested in giving to the Fund for St. Mary's, please visit: www.stmarys-brookline.org/giving.

Internet Safety

We are excited to welcome Brookline Police Department to St. Mary's on Wednesday, April 26th at 5 p.m in the parish lower hall to speak to our parents about the importance of positive internet citizenship and safety. We strongly encourage all parents/gaurdians to attend this conversation. Please note this talk is for parents only. Following this talk, Brookline Police will visit with grades 4-5 and Middle School to educate our students. Featured in the picture on the right is Patrol Officer Katie McCabe with Bear, community resource dog!

Catholic Schools Fair

St. Mary's School attended the Catholic School Fair for the central suburban region around Boston. Nine different PK-K, elementary, and middle schools were represented at The Cambridge Matignon School. Thank you for hosting us!

School-wide Service Project

This week, all our students (Pre-K-8) walked around Brookline delivering flowers to our elderly St. Mary’s parishioners! All our students had a wonderful time as they had the opportunity to participate in a small act of charity.

Middle School STEM

This week Middle School began building their robots. They learned about the different types of plastics, metals, rubbers, and electronics used in various parts of their robots and why the designers of the robots used plastics of different malleability corresponding to various functions for each part. While constructing the robots, students developed hands-on skills with screwdrivers, nuts, bolts, washers, and the installation of electronic sensors.

This week our middle school students went to Groton, MA to enjoy Natures Classroom where they learned all about the three most essential things for survival along with the necessary elements for starting a civilization. Students had the chance to build teepees and make little fires with some help from our guides who led us through the outdoors!

Grade 5

Ms. Caroline, our nursing student came into 5th grade to teach students about sleep. She taught students about the importance of sleep and strategies students could use to get better sleep. She even taught them about how sleep is connected to school. Did you know in order to store all of the information students learn at school they need a full night of sleep? Also, you get better sleep if you turn off all screens at least 30 minutes before you go to bed.

Grade 4

Grade 4 participated in their first round of testing their windmill designs with a visit from Fr. Bobby!
