Howdy Bronco Family! The other day a Facebook memory popped up, and it was a picture of my classroom that I taught in what seems like forever ago. On the wall was a poster with these words – “You are capable of AMAZING things.” It’s a short, simple message with such a powerful meaning. I believe in all our students. Each one is amazing in his or her own right. Our staff pushes your children each to achieve greatness and be amazing. They are encouraged to explore, to challenge, to simply be amazing. So thank you for letting me a small part of your amazing child’s life who is amazing and will continue to be amazing throughout life.

Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.

Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.

Hello parents,

Here are a few reminders for the week.

Phonics- we will work on vcv words with sneaky e and read those words.

Math – name three-dimensional shapes and identify shapes by listening to clues. We will also start our new unit with coins. Students will identify coin value and count coins including pennies, and nickels.

Sight words- our sight word test will be on Thursday.

AR – have your child start reading their library books, and then you will need to ask them questions to check for comprehension. Students will need to take an AR test the next day. Our new AR goal is 8 points for the last quarter. Please have your child bring his/ her AR book to school each day.

Please send a water bottle with your child.

Please send Graduation forms by April 3rd.

Please call the office or message me if your child is sick.

Reminders……

· Study your spelling words and sentences. The test will be on Thursday, April 6.

· Sight word test over the hot pink words every Thursday.

· Practice subtraction facts -2.

· Continue to practice addition facts.

· Please read your library book each night and come ready to take an AR test the next day. Some students are not meeting their AR goal because they are not reading at home.

· If you have not turned in your March reading log. It is due on Monday, April 3.

This week we enjoyed celebrating the 3rd quarter all A’s honor roll, A/B honor roll and AR awards! This week we continued reviewing for Staar as we are only three weeks away! Next week we will have a spelling test and vocabulary test, but the following week we will take a break until after Staar.

Remember:

• Please make sure that your child is at school everyday and on time.

• If your child will not be at school, please call the office and message on Dojo.

• Spelling and vocabulary tests are every Thursday.

• Please read with your child for at least 20 minutes every night!

• STAAR READING TEST IS ON THE MORNING OF APRIL 18th, please have your child on time.

Math/Science

· In math we are learning elapsed time by adding or subtracting time on a number line.

· In Science we are learning about environments and how living and nonliving things can support each other.

· Math fact homework is due on Thursday

· Math fact test is on Thursday.

· Please make sure your child is here everyday. We are starting to prepare for the STAAR test, and we want all students to be well prepared for the test.

· Math STAAR test is May 9th.

1. Students must be reading at minimum 20 minutes EVERY night!
2. Bring back signed report cards ASAP.
3. Have students here on time and ready to learn every day. The end of the year is crucial for their success. If they will be out, please let me and Mrs. Sandy know.
4. Spelling List 27 went home yesterday. Our test will be next Wednesday.
5. Easter break is April 7th - April 10th. We WILL have school on Friday April 14th .
6. Reading STAAR is on April 18th . Please have your child bring a water bottle and jacket to school. I want them to be comfortable throughout the day.

4th & 5th Grade Math

-We have started to review for the STAAR test in 4th grade AND 5th grade.

-Please parents, I need your child in class every day. As we review for STAAR, I start with the math concepts from the very beginning of the school year until we get to Data Analysis which was the last concept we worked on. Some students need to go over some of the math concepts, especially if the student was absent or just did not understand certain math concepts the first time around.

-I still need students to practice their math facts every night for 5 to 10 minutes. I have students who would rather skip the problem or answer whatever than to count and try to figure out the mutliplication math facts inside the 2 digit by 2 digit problem.

-Hemos comenzado a repasar para el examen STAAR en 4to y 5to grado.

-Por favor padres, necesito a su hijo en clase todos los días. Mientras revisamos para STAAR, empiezo con los conceptos matemáticos desde el principio del año escolar hasta que llegamos al análisis de datos, que fue el último concepto en el que trabajamos. Algunos estudiantes necesitan repasar algunos de los conceptos matemáticos, especialmente si el estudiante estuvo ausente o simplemente no entendió ciertos conceptos matemáticos la primera vez.

-Todavía necesito que los estudiantes practiquen sus operaciones matemáticas todas las noches durante 5 a 10 minutos. 5th grade Rad Readers & Social Studies Scholars:

In RLA, we are reviewing all the things before our STAAR test. Our STAAR test is on April 19th! We only have a few more weeks! I cannot believe it! That being said, please make sure your child is in attendance as much as possible. They receive vital instruction every day and when they miss, they are missing important information.

In Social Studies, we have finished the War of 1812 and are continuing on our road of westward expansion. We learning to understand the political, economic, and social changes of our United States during these time periods.

Reminders:

• Reading Logs are due on Monday!
• We will have our Greek and Latin roots & affix quiz next Tuesday!
• If your child is out, please call Mrs. Sandy in the office and message me on Dojo.
