Two Schools Recognized for Excellence

We’re proud to share that Sunnyslope ES and Foothills MS have been recognized by the Washington School Recognition Program for the 2024–25 school year. This is the second consecutive year for both to receive this honor.

This recognition, announced by The Washington State Board of Education, reflects the hard work of our students, educators, and families who came together and made a shared commitment to student success across our district. Only 16% of schools across the state were recognized.

It was an exciting week in the WHS design process. The Design Advisory Committee and WHS Student Design Advisory met with architects to review preliminary building layouts β€” plans shaped directly by stakeholder feedback collected since late February.

The Staff Advisory went a step further, working through a proximity exercise that gave the design team valuable input on how classrooms, programs, and services should be grouped in the new building. Staff will have the opportunity to view preliminary layouts and share additional feedback at their next meeting.

The district also hosted a tour and feedback session for migrant families and staff Thursday evening, and launched an online feedback form for anyone who wants to weigh in on the design. Fill out the Feedback Form

Come find us next week! The district and architects will be out in the community β€” stop by and share your thoughts:
