Heritage Happenings December 2025

Dear Heritage Families,

December has arrived, and with it comes a month filled with learning, joy, and celebration here at school. Our students continue to work hard each day, and we are so proud of the growth we see in their classrooms.

This month, students will be completing the Winter iReady Diagnostic. This assessment helps us better understand each child’s progress and guides our instruction as we plan for the second half of the school year.

We are excited to continue our December to Remember dress-up days. These themed days bring lots of smiles and fun to the building, and we love seeing students show their school spirit!

As we move deeper into the winter season, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate clothing—coats, hats, and gloves—for outdoor recess, which we continue to have as long as weather permits. Don't forget to label those items so we can return to the appropriate owner should it get lost.

Classroom Winter Parties will take place later this month as we wrap up our learning before break. These celebrations are always a wonderful way to end the year together as a school community.

We hope your family enjoys a happy, safe, and relaxing Winter Break filled with special moments. Students will return to school with a late start day on January 5, 2026.

Send an email: attendance.heritage@wsdr4.org

Please include the reason for the absence as this will be noted in Focus.

As we approach the colder months, we want to re-share the District communication that has information regarding the WSD's inclement weather procedures for the 2025-26 school year. This year, snow days one and two will be traditional snow days. After our second snow day this year, we will switch to AMI (alternative methods of instruction) for snow days three through seven. Sunday, December 21, 2025 6:00-8:00pm

Head to Chicken N Pickle anytime between 6-8pm on December 21, 2025 for a fun filled time on the ice. $10 will cover your skating pass & rental. Chicken N Pickle will donate $5 from each sale back to Heritage PTA.

All skaters must show a signed waiver to the check-in attendant. For a quicker check-in experience, you can print out your email confirmation and bring it with you to show the attendant.

Our School Lunch Hero program aims to ensure no child leaves the cafeteria hungry. Donate to our Lunch Hero program to help WSD families struggling to keep up with paying for school breakfast and lunch. Read more about School Lunch Heroes and make a donation.
