Busy Week Ahead!

October is a busy month at North Park and this week is no exception!

We have had a few storybook pumpkins brought in - thank you! We hope to receive several more this week! We can't wait to see what creations you may have in store for us.

We hope you will join us for our Fall Family Literacy Night - it's a Brown Bear, Brown Bear night! We will have many fun activities including free pizza, Bingo, a storywalk, obstacle course, the Teddy Bear Mobile bus (like Build-a-Bear), crafts, free books and more! We will have a special election for a SBDM Council parent representative during the event as well. Bios on the candidates running for election will be shared on Dojo prior to the event. The event is THIS THURSDAY, October 22nd, from 6:00-7:30 PM. COME JOIN US!

Report cards were sent home on Friday. I am resharing a graphic (below) that highlights the academic and adaptive skills your student should have mastered after the first quarter of the school year.

We start our final big schoolwide fundraiser for this school year on Wednesday. It is called "Giving Market" and it is a marketplace of items you can ask family and friends to consider purchasing to support our school. There are a LOT of great items including cookie dough, household items, wrapping paper, etc. I've seen a lot of these companies and the one we work with is much better quality than most. Students will earn incentives as well - just like with the Fun Run. We know it's fairly close to the completion of the Fun Run. However, we try to time it so that it coincides with Christmas. Stay tuned for more information coming out.

We also have very basic (and age appropriate) body safety lessons (kindergarten only) this week sponsored by the Family Resource Center as well as districted-mandated hearing screenings from the Heuser Hearing company (kindergarten only).

If we can support your family or your child in any way, please do not hesitate to contact our office (or me directly at laurabeth.hayes@hardin.kyschools.us).

Help add leaves to our tree!

We have a special painted tree in our cafeteria called our "Reading Tree." We add paper leaves to this tree when students read a book at home with family! We get excited to see how many leaves are added to the tree each month. Additionally, students earn a special sticker (like the kind at the doctor's office) each month. They LOVE collecting these seasonal stickers and adding their leaves to the tree. Paper copies of the leaves will go home the first full week of school. You can also print them using the file below. Send in your completed leaves and let's fill our tree for August!
