News from Lake Ridge December Edition

Hello, Lake Ridge family!

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and along with that we will be wrapping up our first semester of learning! December 20th is a half day of school with dismissal beginning at 11:30. We will be having several festive events for this holiday season including our 1st grade performance on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00 PM, which also includes the December PTA General Meeting.

Please continue to support your child by having them at school all day, every day. We completely understand illness season has also arrived, and illness is sometimes unavoidable. As a refresher, if your child has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, please keep them home until symptom free for 24 hours. This allows everyone to feel their best while at school and stops the spread of those illnesses.

As we are starting the winter months, we LOVE building a close community and enjoying time outside the classroom with our students. Please see the "SAVE THE DATES" section below and mark those dates on your personal calendar.

10th - PTA 1st Grade Music Performance @ 6:00

12th - Writing Checkpoint (2-5)

13th - Science Checkpoint (3-5)

17th- ELA Checkpoint (2-5)

18th- Math Checkpoint (2-5)

20th - End of second 9 weeks/half day (dismissal at 11:30)

December 21st- January 6th - Winter Break

January

7th- Welcome back students

8th - Report Cards go home

14th- TA Board of Managers Meeting @ 1:00 in the conference room

20th- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - No School

24th- Winter Wonderland Event 6:00-8:00

Safety Updates

Dismissal Tags:

To continue enhancing safety measures at Lake Ridge, a dismissal tag is required for all car riders and walkers. If you do not have a dismissal tag, please let your child's teacher know and we can send one home for you. Additionally, if you arrive without a tag, please park and go to the front office to pick up your child. Thank you for your support in making safety a top priority at Lake Ridge!

Walkers:

Please do not park in the teacher side lot for "walker" line. Only use the front parking lot for pick up from walker line. This creates a very dangerous situation with oncoming traffic and walker line traffic trying to go around in the carline in the left lane. This also has created more traffic for our children who are walking the neighborhood to navigate through while crossing that parking lot crosswalk on their own.

Please do not bring pets to the walker dismissal line.

Parking:

Please do not block the neighborhood driveways for dismissal or arrival. We want to be respectful of our neighbors.
