Our administration team took the first couple of days to visit each classroom. The purpose of the visits was to do a read-aloud and build connections between the principals and each class, allow students and the principals to get to know one another, and to share an important message through a meaningful shared reading experience. Read more about the book below:

I Am We: A Book of Community by Susan Verde celebrates the idea that we are all connected and that caring for ourselves helps us better care for others. Through simple, reflective language and vibrant illustrations by Peter H. Reynolds, the book shows how kindness, empathy, inclusion, and standing up for one another help build strong communities. Readers learn that every person has value and that working together allows us to create positive change. The story encourages children to recognize their role in a larger community and to contribute with compassion, respect, and a sense of belonging

Medication Needs Medication Needs

Hello Wasco Families!

Just a friendly reminder that all medications (prescription and over the counter) must be dropped off by an adult with an accompanying doctor's order. A new doctor's order is required each school year. All required forms can be found on the D303 Health Services Website.

Reminders: Gym Shoes, Pets on Premises, and BIkes Reminders: Gym Shoes, Pets on Premises, and BIkes

  • Please make sure your child has gym shoes on their PE days. Gym shoes are also preferred for students at recess. We have seen a number of accidents from students falling when in Crocs or sandals
  • During arrival and dismissal we cannot have pets on the premises so please make arrangements for them outside of these times.
  • If you or your child are riding bikes or scooters to school, please make sure you walk them once you get on school grounds.

Applying Wasco Expectations on the Bus Applying Wasco Expectations on the Bus

Be Safe

Remind your child to stay seated, keep the aisles clear, use a quiet voice, and follow the directions of the bus driver. Safe choices help ensure everyone arrives at school and home safely.

Be Kind

Encourage your child to use kind words and actions, respect personal space, and include others. Riding the bus is a shared experience, and everyone deserves to feel welcome and respected.

Work Hard

Remind your child that working hard means doing their part to make the bus ride successful. This includes following directions, staying focused on expectations, and being responsible for their belongings.

Do the Right Thing

Talk with your child about making good choices even when an adult may not be watching. Encourage them to speak up when something isn't right, take responsibility for their actions, and always make choices that keep themselves and others safe.

Dismissal Reminders Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for your patience as we continue to tweak our dismissal procedures to ensure a safe and efficient dismissal of all students. One area we're seeing a problem is congestion at the end of our new fence. Parents who pick up their students should wait by the bike racks and the path, not at the end of this fence. The location on the map below indicates where parent pick-up is.

Building Temperatures Building Temperatures

As we move through the school year, please consider having your child dress in layers. Temperatures can fluctuate throughout different areas of the building and throughout the day. Layers allow students to adjust their clothing as needed so they can remain comfortable and focused on learning. Thank you for helping us keep our students comfortable and ready to learn

To make sure all students get equal learning time throughout the year, there are times we adjust the schedule when there's a day off (like a Monday holiday). Instead of skipping that day, we ‘move’ the missed day to another day that week. This way, classes like PE, STEM, Art, and Music stay balanced for everyone!

How It Works

  • If there’s no school on a Monday, we might follow a Monday schedule on Tuesday or Thursday instead.

  • This helps all students get a fair number of learning days.

Schedule Change Dates

  • No school on Monday, Sept 7 → We run a Monday schedule on Thursday, Sept 10

  • No school on Monday, Jan 18 → We run a Monday schedule on Wednesday, Jan 20

  • No school on Tuesday, Jan 19 → We run a Tuesday schedule on Thursday, Jan 21

Why Adjust the Schedule?

Some days (like Mondays) are missed more often due to holidays. Here’s how the schedule gets more balanced:

This plan helps keep learning fair and consistent for all students. Thank you for your support!
