SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

We celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday 13 September at St Brigid’s Parish, a significant milestone in the faith journey of our Year Six students. During the Mass, Fr Vincent Glynn, Vicar General and Episcopal Vicar for Education, reminded those present that Confirmation completes the Sacraments of Initiation, deepening the grace first received through Baptism.

I extend my sincere thanks to Mrs Mollie Anderton and Miss Natasha de Gois, our Year Six teachers, for their dedication and commitment in preparing the students for this special occasion, and to Ms Dee Campbell, Assistant Principal, for her leadership, guidance, and support throughout the preparation process. Congratulations to our Confirmation candidates and their families as they celebrated this important step in their faith journey.

LEARNING JOURNEY LEARNING JOURNEY

There was a wonderful buzz around the school on the afternoon of Wednesday 16 September as students proudly shared their Term Three learning during our Learning Journey. Parents and family members enjoyed visiting classrooms with their children, celebrating achievements, exploring completed work, and participating in a range of engaging learning activities.

I extend my sincere thanks to our Teachers and Education Assistants for the significant preparation and organisation that made the afternoon such a success. Our classrooms looked outstanding, reflecting both the dedication and leadership of our staff and the hard work, creativity, and achievements of our students.

FACTION CARNIVALS FACTION CARNIVALS

We enjoyed our Sport Carnivals, which were held on Friday 4 September and Friday 11 September. While Mr Sam Harris (Physical Education Teacher) was unable to attend these events, I thank him for the significant planning and organisation undertaken in the lead up to both carnivals. I extend a special thank you to Mrs Renee George (SWD Coordinator) for stepping in and leading the way across both days. Thank you, Renee, and to our dedicated staff for their support and assistance in ensuring the success of these events.

It was a pleasure to be part of both carnivals and witness the enthusiasm, joy and excitement displayed by our students. Days such as these provide a wonderful opportunity to see our school values of Courage and Acceptance lived out in practice. Students challenged themselves to achieve their personal best, celebrated their own achievements, and encouraged and supported others throughout the events.

Congratulations to all students who placed first, second and third in their year-level events, and a special congratulations to our winning faction, Joseph.

Finally, I extend my sincere thanks to our P&F Committee for supporting the Faction Carnival on Friday 11 September through the organisation of a bake sale and coffee van. These offerings were greatly appreciated by families as they enjoyed the day and cheered on our students. Thank you to our P&F team for your continued support of our school community.

STAFFING UPDATE STAFFING UPDATE

We say farewell to Miss Roisin Coyle, our Year 4W teacher, as she returns to Ireland after being a valued member of the St Brigid’s community since May 2025. We thank Roisin for the positive contribution she has made to our school community and for the care and dedication she has shown to her students. As we wish Roisin every blessing for the next chapter of her journey, I would also like to thank Mrs Candice Ladd and Mrs Kylie Ragan, who will be teaching Year 4W in Term Four.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL & PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE CATHOLIC SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL & PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE

Early next term, correspondence will be sent to parents regarding the nomination process for Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC) and Parents & Friends (P&F) Committee members. Both key parent groups play important roles, and I encourage parents to read through the information provided and consider nominating for a position on one of these groups.

The CSAC provides parents and community members with a structured way of providing support and expertise to the Principal and school leadership team. Members of the CSAC bring a wide range of skills and expertise to the Catholic school community and support the planning for the school’s current and future operation. The term for elected members is three years.

All parents of enrolled students at the school are considered general members of the P&F. The P&F Committee adds strength to the school through community engagement and fundraising initiatives, in addition to being positive advocates for the school. The term for elected members is two years.

Please keep an eye out for further information regarding the nomination process, to be sent via email, early next term.

PRE-KINDY 2027 AND KINDERGARTEN 2028 PRE-KINDY 2027 AND KINDERGARTEN 2028

We are now accepting enrolment applications for Pre-Kindy 2027 (Three-Year-Old Kindy) and Kindergarten 2028. Interviews for families seeking a place in Pre-Kindy next year, and Kindergarten the following year are currently taking place.

In accordance with Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) policy, enrolment in Pre-Kindy does not automatically guarantee a place in Kindergarten. Families who wish their child to continue into Kindergarten and beyond from 2028 are therefore required to submit both the Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten–Year Six enrolment applications.

Families will find our updated enrolment application forms on our school website. Please direct any enrolment enquiries to enrolments@stbrigidsms.wa.edu.au, or contact Mrs Victoria Kellaway (Administration Officer, Monday – Wednesday).

Our Pre-Kindy places for 2027 are filling fast and I encourage you to submit an enrolment application form as soon as possible if you are interested in joining Pre-Kindy next year. Please note, our Pre-Kindy day next year will be Thursday. Kindergarten will remain Monday – Wednesday.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I wish all members of our school community a safe and happy school holiday break. I remind parents that we have a Pupil Free Day on Monday 12 October, with school resuming on Tuesday 13 October.

Waste Free Wednesday Waste Free Wednesday

At St Brigid’s, we are excited to begin our Waste Free Wednesdays as part of our commitment to caring for the environment and “loving our Earth.”

Each Wednesday, we encourage all students and staff to bring a waste-free lunchbox and avoid any plastic wrapping. Together, we can make a big difference… one small change at a time!

✅ Ideas for a waste-free lunch:

• Pack snacks and lunches in reusable containers

🚫 What to avoid:

• Plastic bags, cling wrap, or foil

• Disposable bottles and juice boxes

• Snacks packaged in plastic

Let’s work together to reduce waste and build sustainable habits for our children.

♻️ Saving the planet one Wednesday at a time!

Thank you for your support!

It is National Deaf Peoples Week this week which includes celebrating International Deaf Peoples Week and International Sign Languages Day.

We have covered Ethics and the dark history of Deaf Culture which links with this years theme of "Declaring Deaf People's Human Rights". It is also the reason Auslan is now offered as a second language in schools.
