Anoka-Hennepin Schools staff,

Serving Anoka-Hennepin Schools for six of the last ten years of my career — as Executive Director of Student Services, Associate Superintendent, and most recently as Superintendent — has been an honor. Moving our district forward together with a common purpose in partnership with all of you has been a privilege.

I am writing to share with you that I will not be seeking another contract after my current term expires. My last day of employment with the district will be June 30, 2026.

I am sharing this news now to allow the School Board the necessary time to effectively conduct an efficient leadership search process while providing myself the opportunity to explore other professional goals. Anoka-Hennepin is a district that many often look to as a leader in education, and I have confidence that the district is in a stable place to continue our mission to effectively educate each of our students for success. I am committed to supporting the Board and our leadership team throughout this transition to ensure our momentum remains uninterrupted through the end of the school year.

I am incredibly proud of the work we have done together and feel hope for the future. Looking back on our time together, each of you have been instrumental in driving three key successes from our Strategic Priorities that stand out:

  • Increased student achievement through literacy: We have made significant strides in improving literacy at all grades, ensuring our students have the fundamental skills necessary for long-term academic success.

  • Cultivating a safe and welcoming environment: By focusing on student engagement and behavior, we have worked to create the safe and welcome learning environments our students need to thrive.

  • Strengthening our workforce and organizational support: We have prioritized effective organizational support by improving employee recruitment and retention, ensuring Anoka-Hennepin remains a system of excellence with high-quality staff. In addition, I’m proud of the efforts made to engage with key stakeholders in recent years to balance the budget, ensuring financial stability for the district.

Anoka-Hennepin has a bright future. The talent and heart within our staff is unmatched, and I have confidence that you will continue to deliver on our vision to be a school district of excellence. Every staff member in Anoka-Hennepin makes a difference for our students, schools and our communities, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have partnered with you in that mission.

Sincerely,

Cory McIntyre, superintendent
