In Springdale, we offer two options for students when they leave elementary to attend 6th grade. We have the traditional middle school model that serves 6th and 7th-grade students. Helen Tyson Middle School is the middle school that Walker Elementary students are zoned to attend. We also have a public charter in Springdale, Don Tyson School of Innovation, which serves students from 6th grade to 12th grade. Enrollment to attend DTSOI is limited and requires parents to fill out an application in order to attend.
Both schools have visited Walker 5th grade students to share what each has to offer for 6th grade. Please take time to talk to your child and go through the links below as you make this decision as a family. If you choose DTSOI, you will need to enroll on Monday, January 25th at 10:00 am to ensure your child has a spot. If you choose to attend HTMS, you will not need to do anything for enrollment at this time.
